Senior Manager – Design and Data Visualization

Job Description Summary

Serve as a leader in User Experience (UX) Design for all corporate digital platforms. The individual should take lead in creating seamless and engaging user experiences and ensuring the design resonates with target audience also aligns with business objectives. This role is also pivotal for developing and designing data products including insights dashboards, from user interface design to data visualization support for Novartis Business Stakeholders. This role integrates internal and external data with data science expertise to optimize risk management, compliance, and overall departmental transformation, ensuring the delivery of clear, user-friendly, and insightful data presentations

About the Role:

Serve as a leader in User Experience (UX) Design for all corporate digital platforms. The individual should take lead in creating seamless and engaging user experiences and ensuring the design resonates with target audience also aligns with business objectives. This role is also pivotal for developing and designing data products including insights dashboards, from user interface design to data visualization support for Novartis Business Stakeholders. This role integrates internal and external data with data science expertise to optimize risk management, compliance, and overall departmental transformation, ensuring the delivery of clear, user-friendly, and insightful data presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the expert advisor on UX/UI design and provide guidance and recommendations to optimize user interactions and engagement.
• Leading the graphic design and data visualization work, working closely with the Data Analytics & Insights team and external design agencies.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX/UI design and actively apply innovative approaches to push the boundaries of industry standards.
• Driving innovation in data visualization and design, utilizing the latest tools and technologies, and applying design thinking principles to create intuitive and engaging user experiences.
• Providing high-fidelity designs and Figma prototype for an interface to be implemented in the Power BI / Qlik environment. Conceptualizing and creating high-fidelity designs and prototypes for AI utilization to increase efficiency   and data retrieval. Develop feature roadmaps and prioritize design enhancements based on user feedback and business objectives.
• Accountable for user-centric and aesthetic presentation of data insights through various data products such as dashboards and apps. Driving innovation in data visualization and design, utilizing the latest tools and technologies, and applying design thinking principles to create intuitive and engaging user experiences.
• Create prototypes, mockups, and demonstrations of new platform features and elements to effectively communicate design concepts and gather feedback.
• Collaborating with design agency partners for specialized design solutions, ensuring alignment with company branding and compliance standards. Drive continuous improvement through user research and usability testing, gathering feedback and insights from users to refine and enhance the UX/UI design strategies and ensure industry-leading experience.

Essential Requirements:

• 7-10 years of experience in data visualization and Dashboard design.
• Design Thinking: Design thinking competency is essential for role. Creative thinking, and attention to detail, crafting interactive elements to make data products not only informative but also engaging and intuitive to use. UX/UI design in a corporate or agency setting.
• Innovation: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration, driving successful outcomes in dynamic and complex environments. Design enhancements to improve existing data products.
• Data Visualization: The ability to create clear, compelling, and accurate visual representations of data to aid in decision-making. Preparing Prototyping, wireframing, mockups and ensure that data products are accessible, understandable, and actionable Ability to create visual storytelling and translating complex data into simple, aesthetically pleasing visualizations. UX tools including Figma, Power BI, Adobe XD and Sketch.
• Data Architecture: Structuring and organizing data/information in a way that makes sense to the user and facilitates ease of understanding.
• Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of visualization tools and software that are commonly used in the industry, such as Figma, Adobe XD, Power BI, etc.
• Collaboration with development teams to create designs for data products.
• Corporate brand awareness and application to digital design systems.

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, or any other heavily regulated industry and risk focused functions is advantageous
• Knowledge and appetite for the data analytics is a big plus
• Strong team player who is dynamic and result oriented
