Why This Role Matters
Global Development relies on high-quality, reusable, and interoperable data to accelerate trials, strengthen insights, and ensure regulatory readiness.
The Senior Manager, Data Products Engineer will design, build, and deploy FAIR-compliant, ontology-aligned data products that integrate operational, regulatory, and scientific data across multiple therapeutic areas.
You will turn roadmap requirements from the Data Strategy team into technical reality, ensuring data products are robust, scalable, and ready for analytics, AI/ML, and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Build & Delivery
Translate data product specifications into technical designs, architectures, and deployments aligned with enterprise standards.
Develop APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, and integration layers to connect internal and external datasets.
Ensure adherence to FAIR data principles, semantic modeling, and the Global Development Ontology.
Platform Integration
Partner with Data Platform teams to operationalize products in cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Integrate data from core Global Development systems — CTMS, EDC, eTMF, regulatory platforms, and CRO-provided datasets.
Optimize data flows for AI/ML readiness and predictive modeling use cases.
Quality, Compliance & Governance
Implement automated validation, testing, and monitoring for data products.
Maintain version control, documentation, and audit-readiness practices.
Collaborate with governance teams to ensure data products meet quality, metadata, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work alongside:
Senior Manager, Data Strategy — aligning builds with strategic priorities and roadmap milestones.
Knowledge Management — enabling ingestion into the enterprise knowledge graph for reasoning and automation.
Regulatory Data Product Owner — delivering shared use cases in protocol metadata, submission readiness, and disclosure datasets.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, or related discipline.
6+ years in data engineering or technical delivery within pharma/biotech, ideally in clinical development environments.
Proven track record building productized data assets integrated with enterprise data architectures.
Expertise with cloud data platforms (Azure Data Lake, AWS Redshift, GCP BigQuery), APIs, and data integration technologies (Spark, Databricks, Kafka, etc.).
Knowledge of semantic modeling, industry ontologies, and standards (CDISC, HL7 FHIR, TransCelerate DDF) strongly preferred.
Regulatory Data Product Owner — delivering shared use cases in protocol metadata, submission readiness, and disclosure datasets.
Skills & Expertise
Strong technical problem-solving with an engineering mindset for scalability and resilience.
Proficient in modern data engineering tools and methods (infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, data automation).
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional business and technical teams.
Clear communication skills — able to convey technical design to non-technical audiences.
Impact
By delivering high-quality, integrated data products, you will ensure Global Development has a robust foundation for analytics, AI, and automation. Your work will directly accelerate development timelines, improve regulatory readiness, and enable data-driven innovation across multiple programs.
