We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Data Engineering (Databricks/Azure/Microsoft Fabric) with expertise in Modern Data Warehousing to join our team! This individual will play a key role in the design, development, and management of cutting-edge data architectures, enabling us to effectively leverage cloud-based platforms to process, store, and analyze large-scale datasets.

The Senior Manager, Data Engineering will collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure the creation of high-performance, scalable, and secure data solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud data platforms, modern data engineering practices, and architectural principles. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have a strong passion for driving innovation and best practices in the data domain.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of cloud-based data architectures using Microsoft Fabric, and other relevant tools to ensure scalability, performance, and security.

  • Cloud Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data from multiple sources, including on-premises systems, cloud platforms, and external APIs.

  • Data Governance & Security: Ensure proper data governance and security protocols are in place, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Optimizing Data Pipelines: Develop and optimize data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and processing large volumes of data, ensuring efficiency and low-latency operations.

  • Data Modeling: Design robust data models, schema definitions and ensure the data infrastructure can support complex analytical workloads.

  • Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that meet business needs.

  • Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor and improve the performance of data systems, identifying bottlenecks and recommending optimization strategies.

  • Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, guiding them on best practices and architecture standards.

  • Cloud Management: Oversee the management of cloud infrastructure related to data storage, processing, and analytics on Microsoft Fabric.

Salary Range

The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

$200.4k - $260.2k USD

Qualifications:

What We Want to See

  • Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of experience (MS with 6+)

  • Microsoft Fabric or Databricks, including Apache Spark, Delta Lake and integration with other cloud services.

  • Expertise in data engineering, data pipeline development, and ETL processes.

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and big data technologies.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data architectures in a cloud environment (preferably Azure).

  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), with a strong preference for Azure, and specifically Microsoft Fabric.

  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, and other data engineering languages.

  • Familiarity with Data Lake architecture, Data Warehouse design, and NoSQL databases.

  • Experience with CI/CD processes and data automation tools.

  • Familiarity with Data Governance, security protocols, and compliance requirements in a cloud environment.

  • Problem-solving attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.

Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd

  • Knowledge of Data Mesh and DataOps principles.

  • Certification in Azure Data Engineering or similar cloud certifications.

  • Experience in machine learning or AI model deployment is a plus.
