As a Senior Manager - Data Engineering, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining optimal data pipelines to assemble large and intricate datasets, catering to the business requirements of various CVS lines of business. Collaborating closely with teams, you will craft tools to provide actionable insights and integrate them with consumer touchpoints.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyzes current information technology environments to identify and assess critical capabilities and recommend solutions. Experiments with available tools and advice on new tools to determine optimal solution given the requirements dictated by the use cases.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of data engineers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align analytical initiatives with overall business goals
  • Analyzes complex data structures from disparate data sources and design large scale data engineering pipeline.
  • Develops large scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data that helps generate insights and addresses reporting needs.
  • Implement data ingestion pipeline using APIs, third party tools, or create custom codes to ingest high volume data into Cloud environment.
  • Writes processes, designs database systems and develops tools for real-time and offline analytic processing.
  • Collaborates with product business and data engineering/science teams to collect user stories, translate into technical specifications, and implement data transformation, algorithms and models into automated processes.
  • Uses strong programming skills in PySpark/Python/ or any of the major languages to build robust data pipelines and dynamic systems.
  • Builds highly scalable and extensible data marts and data models to support external and internal customers on Cloud. Integrates data from a variety of sources, assuring that they adhere to data quality and accessibility standards.
  • Analyzes current information technology environments to identify and assess critical capabilities and recommend solutions.
  • Develop and participate in presentations and consultations to existing and prospective constituents on analytics results and solutions.
  • Interact with internal and external peers and managers to exchange complex information related to areas of specialization.
  • The ideal candidate should be detailed oriented with the ability to quickly understand complex situations, manage multiple urgent tasks at the same time and have a proven track record of communicating in an open and honest way that quickly builds trust and respect.
  • The ideal candidate should work with data related to a wide range of customer interactions and analytics. This role will be responsible for designing and deploying large scale Data engineering solutions   with support from Business and Product Team.
  • Experiments with available tools and advice on new tools to determine optimal solution given the requirements dictated by the model/use cases.
  • Define objectives and key milestones to meet short- and long-term needs of business stakeholders and oversee project management /scrum activities including team communication, leadership updates, stakeholder management and timelines
  • Develop and maintain relationships with wide range of stakeholders including business partners, IT, other data engineering/analytic teams, Legal, etc.
  • Experiments with available tools and advice on new tools to determine optimal solution given the requirements dictated by the model/use cases.
  •  Leads others in identifying and resolving complex technical, operational and organizational problems. Designs and modifies components of new and existing IT systems to promote integrated corporate business systems. Motivates team members and probes into technical details, and mentors' others to do the same.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with Data warehouses (such as data modeling and technical architectures) and infrastructure components
  • 7+ Years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Systems.
  • 7+ years of experience with ETL/ELT, and building high-volume data pipelines
  • 5+ years of experience with Query optimization, data structures, transformation, metadata, dependency, and workload management
  • 3+ years of experience with Big data and cloud architecture
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building modern data pipelines within a major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • 7+ year(s) of soliciting complex requirements and managing relationships with key stakeholders
  • 7+ year(s) of experience independently managing deliverables
  • 7+ years of progressively complex related experience in cloud data engineering and data analysis
  • 5+ years’ experience with managing large scale projects, supporting multiple workstreams and working with multiple business stakeholders to influence decision-making
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management /scrum activities including team communication, leadership updates, stakeholder management, budget, forecast and timelines
  • 5+ years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge in any of cloud Technology is must preferably Google cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Proficiency in developing Complex Data Pipelines, ETLs and Workflows on Cloud Platform optimized for High Volume of Health Care data.
  • Proficiency in using Cloud Platforms such as GCP/Azure/AWS. Knowledge of tools like Composer, PySpark and SQL.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tooling like Jenkins, GitHub to enable robust development pipelines for data and ML.
  • Strong knowledge of large-scale search applications and building high volume data pipelines, preferably using PySpark on GCP and It’s native tools such as BigQuery, Airflow, Composer, DataProc, PUB/SUB and DataFlow.
  • Strong Foundational Knowledge in Agile Methodologies.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with Healthcare domain is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of AI/ML technology Stack.
  • Sound experience in Google Cloud Data Services: Big Query, Data Proc, PubSub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Composer, Kafka, Vertex AI.
  • Experience with bash shell scripts, UNIX utilities & UNIX Commands
  • Ability to leverage multiple tools and programming languages to analyze and manipulate data sets from disparate data sources
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills at the senior level; capacity to quickly build and maintain credible relationships at varying levels of the organization simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of API development
  • Experience with complex systems and solving challenging analytical problems
  • Knowledge of data visualization and reporting
  • Experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling
  • Google Professional Data Engineer//Cloud Architect Certification
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems
  • Experience & certification on GCP.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow, Rally, Jira
  • Experience in HealthCare/PBM domains.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $236,900.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
