Senior Manager Compliance – Consumer Protection Compliance (Hybrid - 3 Days in Office - VA or TX)

Position Overview:
The Senior Manager of Compliance – Consumer Protection is responsible for establishing and implementing the compliance risk management program for the consumer protection regulations, including Unfair or Deceptive Acts or Practices (UDAP) for both Freddie Mac and oversight of third parties such as sellers and servicers. The role spans Freddie Mac’s major operating Divisions -- Single Family, Multi Family, Investments & Capital Markets, as well as the other divisions as they pertain to the regulatory areas.

Coordinate with Business Divisions in the 1st Line of Defense to effectively adopt the compliance risk management program across the enterprise

Continuously improve and oversee processes and controls in place to follow consumer protection regulatory requirements, including UDAP, and related policies and procedures across Freddie Mac

Manage relationships and compliance examinations of customer protection with FHFA, as Freddie Mac’s Conservator and Regulator, Internal Audit and Compliance Testing

Advise & collaborate with business units and enterprise divisions (to include Divisional Risk Officers, Enterprise Risk Officers, Legal, and Internal Audit) to manage compliance risk, including implementation of new regulatory requirements, oversight and challenge of new initiatives, reporting and escalation of regulatory matters

Develop and implement ongoing monitoring and reviews of existing processes and controls related to compliance with consumer protection regulatory requirements
Your Impact:

Build out and implement Freddie Mac’s compliance risk management program for the Freddie Mac consumer protection regulations in alignment with the framework pillars - I) Risk Identification, II) Risk Assessment, III) Monitoring/Testing/Controls, IV) Issues Management, V) Reporting, and VI) Risk Appetite

Conduct the compliance risk management oversight activities for Freddie Mac and its third parties, including advising the business, designing and implementing monitoring activities and contributing to testing over consumer protection regulations

Participate in collaborative leadership of compliance through tactical planning, and clear and transparent communications

Ensure appropriate compliance policies, procedures and training exist that address regulatory and risk management requirements for Consumer Protection, including Freddie Mac’s third parties

Continuously improve and maintain compliance program consistent with the compliance risk management framework and industry practice

Lead all aspects of compliance related business activities and collaborate to provide effective challenge as appropriate

Implement compliance training and awareness plans

Supervise issues and remediation plans pursuant to enterprise risk framework standards

Identify, measure, and report on risks to management and the Chief Compliance Officer

Respond to reports of breaches of laws, regulations or policies and standards

Collaborate with a team of knowledgeable and motivated compliance risk professionals
Qualifications:
-
JD, MBA, CPA or equivalent experience preferred
-
Minimum 8+ years relevant consumer protection and UDAP compliance-related functional experience
-
Proven success participating in the growth of a 3 lines of defense framework
-
Experience working in compliance or Legal preferred

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $142,000 - $214,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
