Summary Generated by Built In

The Senior Manager, Communications, is responsible for developing and delivering communications that keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with the organization's strategy, priorities, and culture. The role partners closely with the senior leaders and stakeholders across the firm to create clear, compelling, and timely communications that support organizational goals, drive employee understanding of and engagement with – and adoption of -- key initiatives, particularly change management initiatives.

Working with leaders and transformation workstream owners as well as the key communications stakeholders, the Senior Manager develops plans, messages and content, feedback mechanisms and success measures across multiple initiatives. They support leader cascades and coordinate delivery through established channels. The role connects activity across functions and regions, working closely with Communications colleagues to align plans and messaging for communications programs across the firm and key audience groups.

At the IFS L4 level, the Senior Manager independently manages complex assignments and effectively uses data, feedback and approved AI tools to improve quality and efficiency.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

IFS Communications

  • Serve as a communications partner across IFS functions, supporting functional priorities and initiatives that affect colleagues or the business.

  • Develop audience-specific plans and materials that translate technical, policy or process detail into clear messages for employees, managers and Service Line leaders.

  • Coordinate routine and strategic updates with the integrated Communications calendar, identifying dependencies, opportunities to connect messages and risks of information overload.

  • Work across the Internal Communications team and CEO office to prioritize requests where messages or timing overlap.

Transformation Communications

  • Manage communications for assigned change initiatives, explaining the case for change, milestones, decisions, colleague impacts and required actions.

  • Build plans covering stakeholder mapping, audience readiness, sequencing, channels, leader materials, dependencies and approvals.

  • Partner with program and functional owners to verify facts, anticipate concerns and prepare progress updates, FAQs, presentations and manager guidance; escalate material risks.

Content, Channels & Leader Enablement

  • Draft and edit leadership messages, emails, intranet articles, FAQs, talking points, presentations, town hall content and manager toolkits to a high editorial standard.

  • Recommend channels, formats and cadence appropriate to audience needs and the sensitivity of each message.

  • Equip sponsors and managers to explain changes consistently and respond to likely questions, gathering feedback from their teams.

  • Apply sound judgment and discretion to confidential or sensitive matters, following established review and approval processes.

AI-Enabled Communications Optimization

  • Act as a champion for AI and automation optimization in the Communications function.

  • Use approved AI tools to accelerate research synthesis, first drafts, editing, content variants, FAQs and leader materials, maintaining human ownership of facts, tone and final approvals.

  • Apply AI to help segment audiences, adapt content for channels and accessibility needs, and identify themes in feedback and channel data.

  • Design reusable prompts, projects, templates and workflow improvements that reduce repetitive work and give communications partners more time for strategic counsel.

  • Evaluate output for accuracy, bias, confidentiality and brand fit; follow Kroll’s data-handling and AI requirements.

Planning, Measurement & Improvement

  • Proactively collaborate to maintain an integrated view of assigned Internal Communications projects, tracking deadlines, dependencies, decisions and stakeholder commitments.

  • Set practical measures across reach, understanding, engagement and adoption where relevant; combine channel data with qualitative feedback.

  • Use insights to improve message sequencing, channels and content, and report what changed as a result.

  • Share templates, lessons learned and communications expertise with colleagues to improve quality and efficiency across the team.

LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

  • Own the quality, timeliness and consistency of communications within assigned workstreams, using judgment to resolve complex issues and escalating material risks.

  • Balance audience needs, business priorities, timelines and available resources with strong operational discipline.

  • Apply advanced communications expertise, data and responsible AI methods to improve quality, scale and functional service delivery.

  • Be innovative in change management communications to reach an organization comprised of many legacy businesses.

  • Act as a trusted partner to functional and program leaders, anticipating needs and proposing practical solutions.

  • Promote collaboration and proactive knowledge sharing across IFS functions, Service Lines and regions.

  • Model accountability, inclusivity and discretion; coach colleagues and share feedback and tools to strengthen team capability.

  • Work both independently and collaboratively.
