The Team:

Communications at Netflix represents a seasoned group of professionals shaping and telling the story of Netflix as the global leader in streaming entertainment. The work of this team is critical in illustrating the company’s success and reinforcing our reputation in a fast-changing, complex and competitive global landscape. We tell compelling stories about our Netflix titles, brand and local initiatives, working closely with content, policy, publicity, production, marketing and other functions to infuse these stories with their efforts.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a senior communications leader to own Netflix's communications strategy across Southeast Asia and Taiwan. This is a highly autonomous role requiring strong judgment, deep regional expertise and the ability to set strategy while remaining close to execution. This position offers unique proximity to our regional business, and the chance to shape a team. This opportunity will leverage Netflix’s local productions to tell our brand story across the region, and demonstrate our ongoing investment and impact in these markets, both with local press, industry, policymakers and influencers.

Role Overview:

As Senior Manager, Communications for Southeast Asia & Taiwan, you will:

  • Lead communications strategy across Southeast Asia and Taiwan, serving as a trusted local expert responsible for content, policy and business communications across Netflix

  • Identify impactful opportunities and develop creative communications-led campaigns to demonstrate our commitment and investment across the region

  • Exercise strong judgment on complex and fast-moving communications issues, knowing when to act independently, when to bring others in, and how to balance local market needs with regional and global considerations

  • Lead and develop a small team over time, while being comfortable operating independently and hands-on when required

  • Prioritize ruthlessly across markets and opportunities, focusing resources where communications can have the greatest impact

  • Serve as a trusted communications partner to senior leaders, bringing an informed point of view, constructive challenge and communications counsel to business decisions — not simply executing against briefs.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to support their priorities and deliver shared impact

  • Maintain strong media relationships with press in each key market, shape Netflix’s reputation with consistent KOF engagement and identify opportunities with new media and social-first channels

  • Manage multiple PR agencies in key markets to execute local communications strategy and liaise with press

  • Write and shape our key corporate communications materials including brand narrative, executive briefing and media training

This role is based in Indonesia or Thailand, and reports to the Director, Communications - Pan-APAC.

The candidate must:

  • Have a global mindset and creative approach to communications strategy, preferably with experience working inside a complex, highly matrixed regional/global organization

  • Bring deep understanding of Southeast Asia and Taiwan, with the ability to navigate distinct cultural, media, industry and stakeholder environments and determine where communications can have the greatest impact

  • Possess a strong instinct for what makes a compelling story and a demonstrated ability to shape narratives that earn attention and influence the audiences that matter

  • Anticipate and navigate reputational issues, partnering closely with relevant teams to develop thoughtful communications strategies in complex or sensitive situations

  • Have very strong writing and communication skills.

  • Bring a passion for entertainment and a proactive curiosity about culture, entertainment and the forces shaping the region

  • Have experience managing a small team and also remotely managing agencies to land effective on-the-ground campaigns

  • Be agile, comfortable with ambiguity, and have the ability to stay cool under fire.

  • Have a strong bias-to-action and can change course, be scrappy and get things done on short timeframes

  • Flourish in a 'hands-on' role — no job is too small and willingness to add value at different levels

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.

Skills Required

  • Experience developing communications strategy in a complex, matrixed regional or global organization
  • Deep understanding of Southeast Asia and Taiwan, including distinct cultural, media, industry, and stakeholder environments
  • Demonstrated ability to shape compelling narratives that earn attention and influence relevant audiences
  • Experience anticipating and managing reputational issues and complex communications situations
  • Very strong writing and communication skills
  • Passion for entertainment and curiosity about regional culture and entertainment
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Experience remotely managing PR agencies and executing local campaigns
  • Ability to work independently, operate hands-on, manage ambiguity, and act quickly under pressure
