Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure, need for liver transplantation and premature mortality. Title: Senior Manager, Commercial Procurement (Marketing, Market Research, Media, Medical Affairs)

Role Summary

The Senior Manager, Commercial Procurement is a hands-on role responsible for executing and supporting procurement activities across marketing-related categories, including media, agencies, patient support services, commercial data & analytics, and medical affairs in both the US and International. This position partners closely with Marketing and Medical Affairs, Finance, and Legal to drive sourcing initiatives, manage vendor relationships, and ensure commercial rigor across contracts and spend.

This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented procurement professional with strong experience in marketing categories who enjoys working in the data, supporting negotiations, reviewing SOWs, and ensuring procurement processes run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Tactical Procurement Execution

  • Support end-to-end sourcing activities for marketing categories, including RFP development, bid evaluation, negotiations, contracting, and implementation.
  • Assist with execution of category strategies for marketing-related spend, ensuring alignment with business priorities and budgets.
  • Manage day-to-day procurement requests from Business, providing timely, practical, and business-focused support.

Rate Card & Commercial Analysis

  • Conduct detailed rate card analysis and benchmarking across marketing suppliers to identify pricing inconsistencies, cost efficiencies, and areas of opportunity.
  • Analyze scope, usage patterns, and fee structures to support negotiations and value-creation initiatives.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations to improve commercial terms, pricing transparency, and overall ROI.

Contracting & Commercial Support

  • Lead and/or Support negotiations and execution for marketing contracts, including MSAs, SOWs, rate cards, media agreements, and amendments.
  • Partner with Legal to review and finalize contracts, ensuring appropriate commercial terms and risk mitigation.
  • Track contract terms, renewals, and obligations to ensure compliance and continuity.

Spend Management & Reporting

  • Support budget tracking and spend analysis for marketing and medical affairs categories.
  • Identify cost-saving and value-creation opportunities through benchmarking, rate reviews, and scope optimization.
  • Develop and maintain basic KPIs and reporting related to savings, cycle times, and supplier performance.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Follow established procurement policies and procedures while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support training and enablement of business partners on procurement policies, procedures, and sourcing processes.
  • Support enhancements to procurement tools, templates, and workflows related to marketing procurement.
  • Stay current on marketing procurement trends, agency models, and sourcing best practices.

What You’ll Own vs. What’s Escalated

You’ll Own:

  • Day-to-day procurement support for marketing-related categories, including sourcing execution, RFP support, negotiations, contract administration, and SOW reviews.
  • Detailed rate card analysis and benchmarking to identify cost-saving and value-creation opportunities.
  • Review of SOWs to confirm alignment with approved pricing, scope, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Development of recommendations based on pricing, scope, and usage analysis.
  • Execution of standard marketing agreements within delegated authority levels.
  • Spend analysis, savings tracking, and reporting for assigned categories.
  • Resolution of routine issues related to scope, pricing, timelines, and contract terms, in partnership with internal stakeholders.

You’ll Escalate:

  • Non-standard, high-risk, or highly complex contractual terms or commercial structures.
  • SOWs with material deviations from approved rate cards, scope, or budgets.
  • Procurement decisions with significant financial impact or executive-level visibility.
  • Material contractual disputes or commercial risks requiring senior-level involvement.
  • Requests that fall outside established procurement policies or approval thresholds.
  • Strategic category decisions or changes to overall sourcing approach.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in procurement or sourcing, with hands-on experience in marketing procurement (media, creative services, agencies, events).
  • Experience supporting RFPs, reviewing SOWs, and negotiating marketing-related contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with rate card reviews, benchmarking, and pricing analysis.
  • High attention to detail and sound commercial judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear, concise communicator able to work effectively with Marketing, Finance, and Legal partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with procurement or contract management systems preferred.

Location & Travel

  • Hybrid role (3 days in office) based out of Waltham, MA or Conshohocken, PA.
  • Travel up to 10–20%, based on business needs.

Base salary is determined by several factors including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs and market demands.  As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position, applicable to all candidates, is $146,000 - $178,000 per year.  We comply with all applicable minimum wage laws.
