Use Your Power for Purpose
The Senior Manager, Commercial AI Governance & Operations runs the operational engine of the Commercial AI Council, owning the use case lifecycle from intake through Council review and follow-through. This colleague is accountable for the quality of every use case that enters the pipeline, owns Tier 3 (Exploration) cases end to end, and secures senior leader alignment before elevating higher-tier use cases to the Senior Director for Council review. As the volume of submissions through the AI Innovation Registry (AIR) scales, this role sustains the speed, rigor, and credibility of how Commercial AI is governed.
What You Will Achieve:
Governance & decision-making
  • Own quality control across all incoming use cases regardless of tier, accountable for the completeness, accuracy, and decision-readiness of every submission
  • Own Tier 3 (Exploration) use cases end to end, from intake through evaluation and disposition, routing only the subset that require Council review
  • Secure senior leader alignment ahead of Council review for all Council-bound cases (select Tier 3 (Exploration) and all Tier 2 (Incubation)), so they arrive decision-ready
  • Elevate Tier 2 (Incubation) use cases to the Senior Director with a clear recommendation and routing path
  • Apply and help evolve the governance standards, tier definitions, and evaluation criteria that determine how use cases move through the framework
  • Develop and own communication standards across the governance process, including status updates to use case submitters and the format of Council recommendations
  • Support legal and compliance discussions as needed

Council leadership
  • Lead the biweekly Council operation end to end, owning the agenda, the decision-ready content, and the quality of what is put in front of senior leaders
  • Partner with the Senior Director and Council members to frame decisions and ensure the right cases reach the table with clear, defensible recommendations
  • Own the onboarding and integration of new functional areas (e.g., GAV) into the governance framework, from mapping through go-live

Pipeline & portfolio ownership
  • Own the health of the AIR pipeline, accountable for throughput, cycle time, and quality across 20+ Tier 3 (Exploration) submissions per month
  • Track and report pipeline status and decision velocity, surfacing risks and bottlenecks to leadership with recommended actions

Standards, tools & continuous improvement
  • Own the Commercial AI Council Playbook, the AIR decision tree, and the governance documentation as the system of record, keeping them current with evolving standards
  • Partner with Digital to maintain and enhance AIR, defining requirements and prioritizing system updates as governance needs evolve
  • Identify and implement process improvements that scale the Council's capacity without compromising rigor

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 6 years of experience; OR a master's degree with at least 5 years of experience; OR a PhD with 1+ years of experience
  • Experience in governance, program or portfolio management, or operations within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, including demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a process or program
  • Experience running or facilitating cross-functional forums with senior leadership and converting input into decisions
  • Sound, independent judgment with the ability to make and defend governance decisions
  • Flexible and change-agile, able to expand scope and adapt ways of working as the Council's remit grows

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
  • Familiarity with AI and digital transformation initiatives and commercial operations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume, fast-paced pipelines
  • Detail-oriented with strong QC and documentation capabilities
