What will you be doing?

The Senior Manager for Circana’s Hardlines Sector is responsible for managing the existing clients and prospects in Japan for the global market, as well as generating revenue growth from sales to existing clients or new clients in Japan.  This individual will primarily support the sale of our syndicated retail and commercial reseller point of sale and e-commerce information, as well as advanced consultative services such as strategic analytics, retail gateways, and media & marketing.  Clients will use this data and insights for strategic planning, market sizing, pricing, new product development, competitive analysis, ROAS maximization, and distribution strategy.  You will interact closely with our Global Hardlines Sector, Analyst Team, Consulting Team, Retail Team, Media & Marketing Team, Consumer Shopper Insights Team, Product Management, Operations, and Corporate Marketing to achieve your objectives.


Job Responsibilities

  • Drive Client Growth: Identify and pursue opportunities to expand client relationships by aligning Circana’s data and software solutions with their strategic goals.
  • Deliver Insight-Led Solutions: Translate complex data into actionable insights that help clients make informed decisions and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Manage the Sales Cycle: Lead end-to-end sales processes including prospecting, needs assessment, solution development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with global internal teams (e.g., Global Account Teams, Product, Operations, and Analytics) to deliver integrated solutions and ensure client success.
  • Maintain Industry Expertise: Stay current on trends in general merchandise and retail to position Circana as a thought leader and trusted advisor.
  • Build Strategic Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across client organizations, including decision-makers and influencers.
  • Utilize Sales Tools and Platforms: Leverage Circana’s proprietary platforms (e.g., Unify+, Liquid Data,) to support client engagements and solution delivery.
  • Achieve Revenue Targets: Meet or exceed individual and team sales goals through disciplined pipeline management and strategic account planning.
  • Champion Client Success: Ensure client satisfaction by proactively addressing challenges, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering consistent value.
  • Support Innovation and Feedback: Provide market feedback to internal teams to help refine offerings and contribute to product development.
  • Advanced Analytic Skills: Demonstrated ability to conceive, manage, and deliver fact-based analyses, with a focus on consumer solutions, providing clients with clear, actionable insights to inform strategy.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of experience in a client facing role with a Consumer Electronics industry, market research firm, or equivalent is preferred
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain close relationships with clients’ key influencers and decision makers
  • Competent in entire selling process
  • Experience in using all MS Office products (Strong Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • BA/BS or equivalent
  • Fluent English and Japanese both in writing and oral communications
