💻 Role
We are looking for an experienced business development professional with a demonstrable record of building successful commercial relationships with major strategic partners. The Senior Manager, Business Development will report into the Head of Business Development and be responsible for negotiating and managing business critical relationships with a range of partners, including shipping and logistics companies, payment providers, technology platforms, major global brands, and other key partnerships. In this role you will:
- Build and manage alliances with strategic partners by defining joint roadmaps, driving execution against those, delivering commercial advantage and maintaining strong partner relations to ensure that the experiences we build together are the best possible for users, and support our strategic priorities, partners' goals and Whatnot’s mission.
- Build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams across Whatnot (marketing, operations, customer success, legal, product, and engineering).
- Identify, evaluate and negotiate corporate development opportunities.
- Execute in an intense, fast-paced, and highly iterative environment.
Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our San Francisco, New York or Los Angeles hubs.

- 8+ years of experience in business development at hypergrowth e-commerce and/or consumer technology companies (eg BD, corporate development, partnerships)
- Proven track record in defining and executing a rigorous and goals focused strategy to build deeply beneficial business development relationships.
- Demonstrated experience thinking strategically about issues, leading to data-driven recommendations and action plans.
- Experience in analyzing and valuing strategic acquisitions, leading the due diligence process from term sheet through closing.
- Exceptional collaboration and relationship-building skills, and ability to develop effective relationships inside and outside Whatnot - across regions and geographies.
- Deep knowledge of the technology and ecommerce ecosystem across the US with strong external relationships and industry connections in place.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Proactive, self-starter with a high competency for data
- Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
💰Compensation
For Full-Time (Salary) US-based applicants: $225,000/year to $285,000/year + benefits + equity.
The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity.
