The Impact You’ll Make:
In this role, you’ll lead the team behind Vertex Certificate Center, a cloud-based, paperless solution that simplifies tax exemption certificate management. You’ll drive technical strategy, ensure smooth product operations, and work directly with one of our largest clients. Your leadership will help shape our engineering culture and create scalable, customer-centric solutions.

Drive Technical & Business Strategy
- Lead planning for new features, balancing customer needs with engineering sustainability.
- Define and execute a technical vision that scales with company growth.
- Translate business objectives into engineering roadmaps that drive measurable impact.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and operational efficiency of production systems.
Own Customer Success & Operational Excellence
- Stay ahead of customer needs and manage evolving requirements effectively.
- Lead incident response and resolution, ensuring service levels are met.
- Improve system reliability through automation, best practices, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure our solutions meet security, compliance, and industry best practices.
Communicate, Influence & Innovate
- Build strong relationships across engineering, product, and customer teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business goals.
- Drive continuous improvement—learning from challenges and adapting processes.
- Advocate for quality, scalability, and innovation in everything we build.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Proven experience leading Build-Run teams—overseeing development, production, and operations.
- A strong customer-first mindset, ensuring quality and reliability in every release.
- Ability to manage global, distributed teams and drive collaboration across time zones.
- Deep understanding of foundational excellence—including service trust levels, monitoring, and incident response.
- Strong grasp of testing best practices and a commitment to delivering high-quality software.
- Experience in SaaS environments, managing cloud-based applications at scale.
- Multi-cloud expertise—hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or both.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
- Technical fluency in Java, React, SQL Server, or equivalent technologies.
