DP World is currently recruiting for a Senior Logistics Engineer to join the Engineering team at our Minworth facility in Birmingham.
This is a strategic and hands-on role focused on improving operational efficiency and driving cost optimisation across the site. Working closely with Operations, Account Management, and Project teams, the Senior Logistics Engineer will lead engineering initiatives, support continuous improvement activities, and deliver innovative logistics solutions aligned with business objectives.
How you will contribute
- Lead engineering and continuous improvement initiatives across the site, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise operational performance
- Conduct detailed work studies and analysis to evaluate current processes, develop standards, and implement improvements
- Design and support functional layouts that minimise space usage and material movement while maintaining flexibility for future growth
- Use simulation tools and engineering methodologies to analyse and improve logistics and operational workflows
- Develop and maintain headcount analysis models (direct and indirect labour) to assess operational changes and support decision-making
- Prepare engineering studies to ensure operational and strategic plans reflect evolving processes and requirements
- Act as a key point of contact for capacity planning, standard time analysis, and process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with Operations, Account Management, Facilities, and Project Management teams to design and implement scalable solutions
- Support capital investment decisions by providing data-driven recommendations on equipment, tooling, and infrastructure
- Apply Lean principles and methodologies, including line balancing, value stream mapping, PFEP, FMEAs, and control plans
- Manage engineering activities across assigned projects, including budgets, processes, equipment, and facility requirements
What you will bring
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Research, or a related field
- Strong experience in engineering design and cost optimisation within logistics, warehousing, or manufacturing environments
- Proven experience in solution design and supporting operational contracts with engineering expertise
- Experience in packaging, innovation, or process design is advantageous
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel (including pivot tables and formulas), as well as Access, Word, and Visio or equivalent tools
- Experience with project management software and engineering analysis tools is desirable
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
