We are looking for a committed ProdOps Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. Solve unique, challenging problems for our Minister of Defense and Home Office customers. Help manage large volumes of critical, real-time information about issues from global to local. Get s#it done.


You will apply your blend of operational and technical career experience and expertise to integrate leading-edge R&D and commercial technology capabilities that will change the game in integrating and coordinating Joint Targeting activities in support of the British Army, and across the UK MOD. You will be responsible for designing, integrating and managing delivered RII technologies and capabilities within the UK MoD, working within selected functional and operational branches providing daily support to British Army Deep Fires. 


Must hold a current UK National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Clearance (SC) and willing to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and be prepared to maintain it for the duration of employment. 


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Willing to commute within normal distance to Andover, United Kingdom
  • Deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring distributed environments based on many open source and commercial products
  • System administration of development, test and production systems at various locations across the globe
  • Implementing and utilizing monitoring, alerting, and response system capabilities
  • Analyzing system, software and user performance metrics to include trend capture
  • Implementing and utilizing production change and compliance management systems covering hardware life cycle, system updates, software and security patching, and technology roadmaps
  • Knowledge and formal training on Fire Control systems as a administrator, such as FC-BISA, ComBAT, JADOCS, and JTS-FAST
  • Knowledge of interface messaging protocols, such as ASCA, CoT, and JREAP-C
  • Maintaining a suite of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support production operations appropriate to existing or anticipated failure modes that expertly document responses to system failure issues
  • Configuring and maintaining user account management interfaces and system supports including direct customer interface
  • Utilizing security management capabilities and helping ensure a secure and MoD compliant service and system architecture
  • Supporting the DevSecOps environment of cutting edge military and national defense related applications
  • Periodic planned, scheduled, and/or rotational on-call system maintenance support outside of normal duty hours, as required
  • Keeping up with trends in DevSecOps and SRE
  • Ability and interest to travel up to 25%, as needed to client sites, and internationally
  • Providing on-call support on some weeknights and weekends based on the predefined schedule

WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

  • BS in Computer Science, equivalent degree, or previous work experience.
  • 5+ year’s experience with Linux (CentOS or Red Hat or Ubuntu) system administration
  • Experience with cloud hosting environments, specifically Azure and Azure Stack Hub on premises platforms
  • Experience with Powershell scripting
  • Experience with Ansible, Bicep and Terraform
  • Conducted system performance and file integrity monitoring
  • Managed user issue identification, reporting, tracking and feedback functions
  • Escalated user issues based on trends or alerts
  • Conducted vulnerability scanning, mitigation, and reporting functions
  • Monitored system and application performance; configured and performed system and application database backup and recovery

Even Better

  • Experience with AWS or Google Cloud
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, etc)
  • Experience with KVM, VMWare, Hyper-V or other virtualization technologies
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with big data infrastructure to include Hadoop, Accumulo, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB 
  • Understand web application infrastructures to include Apache HTTPD, NGINX and Spring products
  • Experience with configuration of direct attached and storage area network units
  • Information security experience and certifications (NIDS, HIDS, Auditing, Incident Response)
  • Supported plans for security and cyber attack mitigation
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Atlassian products
  • Have an active Developed Vetting (DV) Clearance
  • Experience working in field conditions, solving real-time problems.
