We are actively recruiting for a dynamic, experienced corporate transactional or technology lawyer to join our growing legal team. Our ideal candidate is comfortable working with all levels of management to gain an in-depth understanding of our strategy and services. Candidate will maintain the highest professional and ethical standards, have excellent time management, organization and decision-making abilities, be able to prioritize projects and deadlines, be collaborative and accountable while performing in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review and negotiate complex commercial contracts.

  • Solve unique and complex commercial, legal and client regulatory issues with impact on the business unit or function and through conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions.

  • Review business practices and policies and advise management of potential risks and mitigations.

  • Analyze various legal and business issues, discuss with subject matter experts, and advise business leaders.

  • Support and advise business development and sales teams in creating and selling new products and services.

  • Evaluate matters which may have a major bearing on the conduct of our organization’s business.

Basic Skill Level Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • JD from an accredited law school and a member of the Ontario bar in good standing.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a corporate transactional lawyer or technology lawyer in a top tier law firm. In-house experience is a plus.

  • Strong contract drafting, negotiation and deal management experience. Experience with SaaS and other technology agreements is a plus.

  • Ability to manage complex deals independently.

  • Ability to anticipate internal and external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommend process, product or service improvements; solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business; contribute to the development of functional strategy; lead project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.

  • Familiarity with data privacy and laws and regulations related to data use highly desired.

  • Skilled at communicating, both verbally and in writing, with customers and at the senior leadership-level.

  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within strict deadlines and with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to participate as a member of a team, assisting in other projects as needed or as assigned.
