As
the Senior Legal Counsel (Employment) based in our HQ in North Sydney, you will report to Senior Director, Legal Corporate  and work closely with various teams and leadership across the Asia Pacific region, making your mark in a number of ways:
 

  • You will work closely with the AirTrunk Legal team, People & Culture team and with business stakeholders to manage key employment and workplace workstreams across the APJ region requiring specialist legal input;  
  • You will help to drive initiation and implementation of new workplace policies and procedures and improvement of current policies and procedures to reflect rapid expansion of AirTrunk staff across APJ, in line with regulatory requirements and consistent with best practice; 
  • You will be able to flex into non-employment related workstreams as required, developing an in-depth knowledge of AirTrunk’s business, operations, technologies and services and providing legal support on AirTrunk’s strategic initiatives. 

Your Day to Day  

  • Provide strategic legal advice on a range of employment and workplace matters across APJ, with support from external counsel as required 
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of People & Culture resources, including template contracts, fact sheets, policies and procedures as required to reflect legislative requirements and best practice across APJ  
  • Monitor and identify emerging employment and workplace issues and developments from a legal or regulatory perspective and drive initiatives to ensure awareness and compliance, including through training and development of new policies and procedures.  
  • Advise the People & Culture team as needed to lead, manage and resolve workplace complaints and investigations, performance management and disciplinary proceedings.  
  • Support the People & Culture team and other business units to implement new, or improve on existing, policies and procedures to support rapid expansion of head-count through APJ 
  • Flex into, and advise on, non-employment related workstreams requiring legal support as needed, including negotiation and finalisation of commercial contracts, with support of the AirTrunk Legal team and other business units as required.  

 Requirements  

  • Law degree from an accredited law school and current Australian practicing certificate 
  • Minimum of 8 + years employment law experience gained from a reputable law firm and/or within an in-house environment 
  • Experience in Asia Pacific & Japan highly regarded, but not essential 
  • Experience in advising across a broad range of employment-related areas, including international relocations, appropriate workplace behaviour, workplace health and safety, performance management, disciplinary proceeding and workplace complaints and investigations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgement and commercial acumen to a range of cases, whilst delivering practical legal advice that manages risk and aligns with best practice  
  • Ability to autonomously and efficiently manage multiple workstreams, priorities and stakeholders  
  • Excellent influencing, negotiation, relationship building and stakeholder management skills  
  • Enjoys being challenged, has a “can do” attitude, is prepared to go above and beyond and is eager to learn and develop an in-depth knowledge of AirTrunk’s business and operations
