As a Senior Legal Counsel, Antitrust, you will play a key role in providing strategic and operational legal support on global antitrust and competition law matters. Reporting to and supporting the Head Global Legal, Antitrust, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with EU and international regulatory frameworks, partnering closely with business, public affairs and regulatory teams to enable compliant commercial strategies and support effective risk management across the organization. By navigating complex regulatory and policy environments and helping represent the company's interests with external stakeholders, you will contribute to protecting and advancing the business while fostering a strong culture of compliance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Antitrust & Competition Law Advisory (Strategic Partnering)
- Serve as a central point of contact for competition law matters within a global organization, providing expert legal advice on EU and global antitrust laws.
- Support business activities (e.g., commercial strategies, pricing, distribution models, collaborations, mergers & concentrations) to navigate applicable competition rules.
- Instruct and manage external counsel where necessary.
- Partner closely with Public Affairs and other cross-functional teams on policy-related initiatives, regulatory developments, and advocacy efforts impacting the company’s business and strategic priorities.
Investigations & Enforcement
- Manage and coordinate responses to competition authority investigations (e.g., European Commission, national authorities).
- Lead internal investigations into potential competition law issues, including risk assessments and remediation actions.
- Support in dawn raids and inspections.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Promote a culture of competition law compliance by organizing and conducting training sessions, awareness initiatives, and practical guidance tailored to business teams.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve antitrust compliance programs, policies, and training across the organization.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments in competition law and assess their impact on business operations, keeping other lawyers up to date, inter alia through the Sandoz Antitrust Network.
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer, preferably LL.M. specializing in competition law
- Fluency in English essential; Knowledge of at least one other language preferred.
- Academic record with competition law focus, experience with academic writing, teaching or speaking at conferences.
- Documented experience in competition law from a reputable law firm, in-house legal department, or competition authority/regulator (e.g., European Commission or national competition authorities), preferably in pharmaceutical or highly regulated sectors.
- Ability to analyze complex competition law and compliance issues, connecting the dots and present practical advice to the business.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills; together with a high ability to influence and negotiate.
- Proven ability to deal positively when working within tight pressures & demanding clients.
- Demonstrate professional & culturally sensitive work ethics.
- Change agility and resilience.

Sandoz compensation is determined by job level, qualifications, niche skills, experience, and location within company salary ranges. Fully proficient and highly effective employees can expect a starting salary around market median, with those new to the level or with less functional depth at the lower end of the range and those with sustained superior or niche skills towards the higher end of the range. Internal equity and external market data inform our range placement. Annual salary reviews consider performance outcomes, market alignment, and business needs.
