This role requires you to build trust and relationships with and provide legal advice to and oversee the legal compliance of the KFC System (Head Office and Franchise System). To mitigate risk through negotiation, facilitation, advising and drafting of business-related transactions which includes, but is not limited to, business sales and acquisitions, business restructures, franchise related agreements, property related agreements, supplier and service agreements. Implement and monitor legislative and company compliance programmes and systems.

Responsibilities :

  • Negotiation, facilitation, advising and drafting of business-related transactions which includes, but is not limited to business sales and acquisitions, business restructures, franchise related agreements, property related agreements, supplier and service agreements. 
  • Provide legal advice to and oversee legal compliance of the KFC System (Head Office and Franchise System).
  • Implement and monitor legislative and company compliance programs and systems.
  • Manage and resolve customer complaints as well as contractual disputes and litigation
  • Provide System and Legislative Training 
  • Maintain and update System manuals, policies and disclosure documents as per Company and Legislative requirements.
  • Manage relationships with External Counsel.
  • Commercially astute, solution oriented, able to generate creative commercial options which are in the best interest of the business whilst applying the necessary risk mitigating interventions. Ability to add strategic input and guidance when required.
  • Enhance or modify processes as and when required
     
Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • Tertiary degree qualification in Bachelor of Laws and an admitted attorney.
  • Specialized knowledge in corporate and company law.
  • Commercially astute, solution orientated, able to think out the box when permitted
  • Self-starter, sense of urgency, able to work without close supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to counsel and influence other departments, franchisees and suppliers/service providers.
  • Must be able to work in a flexible and agile environment.
  • Approx. 10 years post articles experience, with managerial experience and/or leadership experience preferable.
  • Experience in a law firm environment. In-house legal experience preferable. 
  • Extensive exposure to contract negotiation and drafting .
  • Must be able to work independently across various departments and with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in dealing with Franchising highly regarded.
     

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Laws degree and admitted attorney
  • Approximately 10 years post-articles legal experience
  • Specialized knowledge in corporate and company law
  • Extensive experience in contract negotiation and drafting
  • Experience in a law firm environment
