As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Employee Platforms team you will be responsible for guiding and enhancing the developer community within Employee Platforms (EP). As a Subject Matter Expert, you will set best practices, foster collaboration, and partner with central teams to improve firm wide developer tools. With extensive experience in application development, you will drive the adoption of AI assistants/agents to boost developer productivity and efficiency.
Job responsibilities
- Serve as a technical authority and thought leader, guiding the EP developer community in adopting best practices and innovative solutions.
- Lead and grow communities of practice, organizing impactful events, workshops, and forums to foster engagement, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
- Actively mentor and coach developers, promoting a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and continuous learning.
- Partner with central teams to align on the development, enhancement, and adoption of firm wide developer tools and platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (HR, IT, Product, etc.) to understand and address developer needs, driving solutions that scale across the organization.
- Lead change management initiatives to ensure successful technology adoption and process enhancements. ; Establish, promote, and maintain high standards for software quality, scalability, and efficiency.
- Develop and uphold coding standards, guidelines, and technical documentation to support the developer community.
- Champion automation, continuous delivery, and modern engineering practices to accelerate development cycles and improve reliability.
- Drive the adoption of AI assistants/agents and emerging technologies to enhance developer productivity and efficiency.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluating and advocating for new tools and methodologies that deliver business value.
- Gather feedback and insights from developers, using data-driven approaches to inform and drive ongoing improvements.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field along with experience in application development.
- Hands on experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in large-scale environments using modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python) and database querying languages.
- Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security best practices.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, developer tools, and hands-on experience with AI-powered assistive development tools and technologies..
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement..
- Experience in community building and engagement within a developer environment.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control systems like Git.
- Experience building and engaging developer communities within large organizations.
- Experience organizing and leading developer events, workshops, and technical forums.
- Practical experience with cloud-native architectures and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
