Wells Fargo is seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Lead Data Scientist to join the HR Conduct Analytics and Reporting Team. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with HR leaders to address business challenges by developing AI solutions using custom, open-source, and proprietary models. In this role, you will lead a small team of data scientists to deliver AI and advanced analytics solutions to support needs of business stakeholders across the HR organization.
In this role, you will:
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, shaping objectives, long-term plans, and enterprise strategies using advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and AI/ML techniques
- Lead the development and execution of highly complex analytical initiatives (i.e. designing models, experiments, and solutions that address ambiguous, large-scale business problems)
- Translate business and HR strategies into data science initiatives that accelerate outcomes and create measurable value
- Interpret and synthesize data using advanced modeling methods, delivering clear, actionable insights that influence decisions across technical and non-technical audiences
- Mentor and guide data scientists, promoting analytical rigor, innovation, and strong documentation and validation practices
- Ensure data quality, governance, and reproducibility across analytical workflows and model development
- Partner with data engineering and technology teams to operationalize models and deploy secure, scalable AI/ML solutions
- Communicate trends, patterns, and strategic recommendations to leaders at all levels, simplifying complex analytics for broad audiences
- Provide expertise on emerging tools, best practices, and methodologies to strengthen enterprise-wide analytical capabilities
- 7+ years of data science experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science
- 5+ years' knowledge or experience programming with Python/R
- 5+ years of experience with AI/ML concepts, including large language models (LLMs), deep learning, or natural language processing (NLP)
- Exposure to AI & MLOps practices and model deployment pipelines
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership or mentorship role
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using data and insights to inform business decisions
- Strong project management, with proven ability to deliver and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional teams
- Experience extracting data-driven insights from technical systems and business processes
- Advanced degree or level of study (i.e. PhD)
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- This position offers a hybrid work schedule
