The Role
Senior Jury Consultant responsible for jury related litigation consulting including managing client communication, conducting research, moderating focus groups, and providing strategic recommendations.
Summary Generated by Built In

Senior Jury Consultants lead complex jury consulting engagements and serve as a trusted strategic partner to clients. They apply social science research, behavioral insight, and knowledge of the civil litigation process to help legal teams assess how potential jurors may view a case and make informed decisions before and during trial.

This is a senior opportunity for an experienced jury consultant who can lead research from initial client discussions through final recommendations. In addition to conducting and analyzing research, the Senior Jury Consultant manages client communication, organizes and leads focus group teams, and helps translate findings into case strategy.

How This Role Differs from the Jury Consultant Role

Compared with the Jury Consultant role, the Senior Jury Consultant has greater responsibility for leading engagements and coordinating the work around them. The Senior Consultant is expected to lead focus group research and the on-site team, manage client communication from intake through delivery, and provide strategic recommendations based on research findings. The role calls for at least five years of jury consulting experience and the ability to take the lead on client-facing work.

Primary Responsibilities

    Research and Engagement Leadership
    • Lead jury research engagements from intake and project planning through analysis, client recommendations, and final delivery.

    • Conduct intake discussions, clarify client objectives, and coordinate research plans, timelines, and project needs.

    • Design and lead mock trials, focus groups, and other qualitative research, including online research sessions.

    • Organize and lead on-site focus group teams, coordinating team members and project activities.

    • Support community attitude surveys, online jury research, and demographic profiling.

    • Analyze qualitative and quantitative findings and develop clear, actionable recommendations for clients.

    • Prepare reports, presentations, and other deliverables that explain research findings and their strategic implications.

    • Pretrial Consulting
      • Advise clients on case themes, arguments, evidence, and presentation strategy based on research findings.

      • Prepare witnesses to communicate clearly, credibly, and effectively.

      • Develop or advise on voir dire and jury selection strategy.

      • Conduct or oversee community and jury research, including surveys and demographic analysis.

      • Trial Consulting
        • Advise clients during jury selection and provide strategic recommendations as a case develops.

        • Lead or support shadow jury research and trial monitoring.

        • Conduct or oversee juror research using publicly available social media and public records, consistent with applicable requirements and client direction.

        • Advise on courtroom presentation, including the use of visuals and other communication tools.

        • Client and Project Leadership
          • Manage ongoing client communication and serve as a senior point of contact throughout an engagement.

          • Present research findings and strategic recommendations with clarity and confidence.

          • Collaborate with colleagues across the research team to deliver high-quality work.

          • Partner with the sales team on client discussions and proposals for jury consulting projects.

          • Take ownership of project quality, coordination, and delivery.

Desired Background

    • At least five years of experience in jury consulting.

    • Graduate degree in psychology or a related field—such as neuroscience, communication, or another social science—or a J.D. is preferred.

    • Demonstrated experience leading focus groups or other jury research and coordinating the team conducting the work.

    • Strong knowledge of social science research methods and the ability to assess the strengths and limitations of research findings.

    • Exceptional qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, with the ability to connect evidence to human behavior, motivation, and decision-making.

    • Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

    • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships, make strategic recommendations, and explain complex findings in a clear, practical way.

    • A solid understanding of the civil litigation process, procedures, and terminology. A law degree is not required.

    • Client development experience or an interest in supporting business development is helpful.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with analytical software such as SPSS is helpful.

    • Familiarity with presentation technology and courtroom presentation tools is helpful.

Compensation: Total compensation packages start at $155,000 and increase based on each applicant’s level of experience, skillset, desire/aptitude to take on more senior-level consulting engagements, etc. Magna will offer each applicant a total compensation package based on those factors, among others. (Compensation packages include a base salary plus monthly incentive-based pay based on actual work performed.)
