Senior Java Engineer

What does a successful Senior Java Engineer do at Fiserv?

You will develop services and deploy them in multiple environments including the in-house Cloud Foundry platform as well as on Cloud provider architectures like AWS and Azure. You will analyze performance issues using modern tools and have a focus on code quality working hand in hand without test engineers. What you will do:

  • Consult with project team and functional units on the design of important projects or services.
  • Help support existing business systems applications and demonstrate proficiency and leadership within agile methodologies.
  • Design applications, analyze, lead and coordinate business enterprise solutions
  • Develop high performance micro services and set ambitious standards of code quality
  • Analyze business requirements, crafting functional technical designs, business level documentation and code development
  • Collaborate with internal partners to gather business requirements and translate them into a technical solution.
  • Set the technical direction for the team using current tools to provide the same business functionality in a more modern architecture

What you will need to have:

  • 8+ years of firsthand coding experience with Java developing enterprise applications using Spring framework and Core Java
  • 5+ years of experience in software design principles and software architecture
  • 5+ years of experience building/developing and supporting RESTful web services
  • 5+ years of experience with Spring Boot REST APIs, SQL, POSTGRES
  • 5+ years of experience with back-end databases including Oracle or Postgres
  • 3+ years of experience working with Eclipse/IntelliJ and Unix scripting languages, tools, and frameworks
  • 3+ years of experience working with AWS technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience

What would be great to have:

  • Experience in Java 17 and Spring Boot 3.0 and end-to-end (E2E) solutions and knowledge of DevOps Pipeline, GIT, JIRA, Confluence
  • Knowledge of financial technologies, standards, and industry regulations (i.e., Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) are highly preferred
  • Experience with Cloud deployment platforms such as Cloud Foundry, AWS, and knowledge of and experience with JIRA and Confluence products
  • Prior technical lead role experience and experience with Splunk, Cloud Watch, Xray
  • Experience with AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Agentic AI, AI-Enhanced Testing, Code Generation & Completion
