About the Role:

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join our engineering team and help shape how authors worldwide submit research for groundbreaking scientific discoveries. This role requires at least 5 years of professional experience and a strong learning mindset. If you have relevant skills but limited formal experience, showcase your projects and apply.

Tech Stack:

  • Java 17, Spring Boot

  • Selenide for UI, RestAssured for API testing

  • JUnit, TestNG, TestContainers

  • GitHub Actions

  • GitHub for code management

  • Microservices architecture (HTTP, JMS)

  • Monitoring via Kibana and Dynatrace

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain key systems and features

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers

  • Architect and design scalable, high-performance solutions

  • Collaborate with QA and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality releases on time

  • Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and follow best practices

  • Deploy microservices in staging and production environments

  • Build and maintain microservices that power our platform

  • Troubleshoot issues in test and production environments

  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Advanced proficiency in Java development, including performance optimization

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Java ecosystem

  • Hands-on experience with Spring Boot

  • Experience building RESTful APIs and web services

  • Knowledge of JMS and Kafka

  • Experience writing unit tests (JUnit, Mockito)

  • Familiarity with Git and Linux

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and relational databases

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a dynamic team environment

  • Proactive problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering solutions

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL

  • Experience with GitHub Actions, Docker, or AWS Cloud

  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like Dynatrace or New Relic

  • Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology
