About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join our engineering team and help shape how authors worldwide submit research for groundbreaking scientific discoveries. This role requires at least 5 years of professional experience and a strong learning mindset. If you have relevant skills but limited formal experience, showcase your projects and apply.

Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain key systems and features
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
Architect and design scalable, high-performance solutions
Collaborate with QA and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality releases on time
Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and follow best practices
Deploy microservices in staging and production environments
Build and maintain microservices that power our platform
Troubleshoot issues in test and production environments
Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Advanced proficiency in Java development, including performance optimization
Comprehensive knowledge of the Java ecosystem
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot
Experience building RESTful APIs and web services
Knowledge of JMS and Kafka
Experience writing unit tests (JUnit, Mockito)
Familiarity with Git and Linux
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and relational databases
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a dynamic team environment
Proactive problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering solutions
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with PostgreSQL
Experience with GitHub Actions, Docker, or AWS Cloud
Knowledge of monitoring tools like Dynatrace or New Relic
Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology
