Job Description
This Software Developer role for our Brazil Applications team within GEO-IS Solutions department works with a team of developers who support our customers and district operations. Our applications teams enable new capabilities for our districts and operations through deploying the following solutions:

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain Java based applications in accordance with Expeditors enterprise architectural guidelines
-
Provide technical leadership and support for projects throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
-
Leads in the implementation of design and modeling techniques and best practices
-
Collaborate with numerous teams throughout the Expeditors network to design secure, scalable and resilient user-centric solutions
-
Enables teams to efficiently deliver quality solutions within committed timelines.

Assess and evaluate current, different and emerging development methodologies and identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, maintenance and support
-
Research, evaluate and implement new tools and technologies that can improve development teams’ capabilities and outcomes.

Demonstrate and share their expertise in proven development patterns and standards through coaching and facilitating training

Identify risks and upholds Cybersecurity and Corporate IS development processes
-
Deploys highly optimized code verified through performance monitoring

Conducts code reviews and performs unit testing to deliver quality solutions on time

Translates business requirements into technical tasks

Develops technical and end-user documentation

Support agile work processes and keep work management systems current (i.e. Azure DevOps)
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
-
5+ years of related experience in object-oriented programming and component-based Java development in a team environment
-
Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field
-
Experience with Java, Angular, Python, Spring, SQL
-
Experience with Agile software development methodologies
-
Experience with code versioning and CI/CD (i.e. Git, GitLab)
-
Experience with Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEs, various plug-ins, Maven, Nexus
-
Work effectively with a cross-functional development team
-
Self-starter with customer service-oriented attitude, and excellent time management
-
English language proficiency
Desired Qualifications
-
Knowledge of the freight forwarding industry

Experience with UI/UX concepts
-
Oracle Java certification
-
SAFe or Agile certification
Additional Information
Expeditors also offers 26 remote days per year that can be used as needed. The entire team is based onsite and works closely with each other which help foster employee growth and job satisfaction.
