About the Role

As a Senior Java Developer at Devoteam Creative Tech, you will take on a prominent role in designing, building, and maintaining high-performance enterprise applications and modern back-end services, with foundational capabilities in any front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue.js). This is an AI Augmented position: you are expected to actively integrate AI tools and techniques into your daily workflow to accelerate development, drive code quality, and build intelligent application features.

Mission

• Take on a prominent role in the software architecture and design of enterprise applications, maintaining clean, scalable, and maintainable Java codebases.

• Design and implement robust back-end microservices, REST APIs, and databases with optimized performance, security, and scalability.

• Build and integrate responsive front-end components to support full-stack project delivery and client requirements.

• Leverage AI-assisted software engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Antigravity, Google Gemini, Claude) to streamline coding, unit testing, debugging, and documentation processes.

• Design and implement AI-powered features, including LLM API integrations, RAG pipelines, intelligent automation, and conversational interfaces.

• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and quality assurance processes to drive engineering excellence.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers while effectively communicating with clients and business stakeholders.

Profile

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and architectural skills with a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.

• Strong understanding of software design patterns, Clean Architecture, and microservices design principles.

• Solid grasp of the software development lifecycle, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and DevSecOps practices.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• Genuine curiosity about AI and a proactive approach to adopting modern tools, keeping pace with emerging Java frameworks, cloud tech, and AI practices.

• Fluency in Dutch or French, and English.

Technical Requirements : 

Java Core & Back-End

• Java Core & Frameworks — Deep expertise in Java (Java 17/21+), Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Hibernate / JPA.

• API Development & Microservices — Design and implementation of scalable microservice architectures and robust web services (RESTful APIs, gRPC, or GraphQL).

• Databases & Data Modeling — Strong proficiency in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and SQL, as well as familiarity with NoSQL stores.

Front-End & Web

• Web Fundamentals — Solid practical knowledge of a front-end framework,  TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and responsive UI integration.

• State & Integration — Experience integrating front-ends with back-end REST APIs and managing client-side application state.

Quality, CI/CD & Security

• Testing Frameworks — Strong unit testing and TDD mindset using JUnit, Mockito, and fron-tend testing utilities (Jasmine/Karma or Jest).

• DevOps & Version Control — Proficiency with Git, build tools (Maven, Gradle), and modern CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps).

• Security — Understanding of web application security principles, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT.

AI Skills

This is an AI Augmented role. The following AI competencies are mandatory:

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Antigravity, Google Gemini, Claude, or similar) embedded in your daily workflow.

• Practical understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Azure OpenAI) into Java applications (e.g., using Spring AI or LangChain4j).

• Experience with prompt engineering techniques and constructing LLM-enabled workflows (summarization, data extraction, enterprise search).

• Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns and vector databases (eg: pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant).

• Awareness of responsible AI principles: data privacy, security, and ethical AI deployment.

Assets (Nice to Have)

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native deployment patterns.

• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.

• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Familiarity with building AI agents or multi-agent systems.

• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Spring Certified Professional, AWS/Azure/GCP Developer, or AI certifications).
