Senior Java Developer

We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to design, develop, test, and support large-scale enterprise applications. The successful candidate will work throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), translating technical specifications into scalable, maintainable, and secure software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate technical system specifications into fully functional, tested applications.
  
• Develop detailed programming specifications.
  
• Write and/or generate application code.
  
• Compile data-driven programs.
  
• Maintain applications and conduct unit testing.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during software operation.
  
• Provide technical assistance during implementation, system conversion, and migration activities.
  
• Participate in application design, development, testing, debugging, deployment, and documentation activities.
  
• Conduct impact assessments and support system enhancements and customizations.
  
• Review, analyze, and modify installation scripts, including testing and debugging.
  
• Provide post-implementation support and resolve technical issues.
  
• Participate in design walkthroughs and collaborate with project teams.
  
• Create and maintain user and system documentation as required.
  

Required Qualifications

• Experience in programming and analysis, including specialized software package support.
  
• Ability to collaborate effectively with IT professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
  
• Experience with structured methodologies for application design, development, implementation, and maintenance.
  
• Experience designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting applications.
  
• Experience using object-oriented and/or third-generation programming language development tools.
  
• Experience with one or more programming languages.
  
• Experience with application design patterns, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  
• Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies.
  
• Experience using information retrieval packages and query languages.
  
• Experience with communication protocols.
  
• Experience gathering and documenting requirements from business stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  
• Proven ability to work collaboratively and meet project deadlines.
  

Technical Skills

• 10+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale multi-client web applications.
  
• 10+ years of hands-on Java development experience with Oracle or SQL databases.
  
• 5+ years of experience developing REST APIs and RESTful Web Services.
  
• Experience applying microservices architecture principles to improve extensibility and maintainability.
  
• Experience developing internet-ready applications.
  
• Experience with Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodologies.
  
• Experience using Azure DevOps.
  
• Knowledge of security gateways and protocols including JWT, OAuth 2.0, and SSL Certificates.
  
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
  
• Experience with object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, refactoring, and clean code practices.
  
• Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies.
  
• Experience using query languages and information retrieval tools.
  
• Experience with communication protocols.
  

Oracle Development Experience

• Experience conducting impact assessments on Oracle E-Business application customizations and extensions.
  
• Strong conversion experience in Accounts Receivable and Collections modules.
  
• Strong programming experience with Oracle Database, PL/SQL, SQL, XML, Unix Shell Scripting, and Oracle Data Integrator.
  
• Business knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite modules including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Collections, Accounts Payable, and Inventory.
  
• Strong knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite table structures related to financial and inventory modules.
  
• Experience with SQL performance tuning and partitioned tables.
  
• Experience with Data Warehousing, ETL methodologies, and OBIEE.
  
• Experience with Java and Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) is considered an asset.
  
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
  

Additional Qualifications

• Knowledge of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
  
• Experience with middleware and gateways.
  
• Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and related regulations.
