We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain modern, scalable backend services. In this role, you will work with microservice-based architectures, event-driven systems, and cloud-native applications, using modern Java and Spring Boot while collaborating closely with DevOps and platform teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend microservices using Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs with clear error handling and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation
- Develop gRPC services and clients, including Protobuf schema design
- Build event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka
- Integrate backend services with external enterprise systems
- Implement authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and RBAC
- Develop and maintain data integrations using PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, and Redis
- Write unit and integration tests using JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers
- Collaborate with DevOps teams on containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes
- Contribute to application modernization and Java version migrations
- Participate in Agile development processes, code reviews, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in backend development
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, preferably Java 21
- Strong experience with Spring Boot, including microservices, REST controllers, data access, and security
- Experience migrating applications from older Java versions
- Solid knowledge of Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, and Redis
- Good understanding of Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and role-based access control
- Experience with automated unit and integration testing
- Experience working within an Agile environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with Confluent Kafka or Azure Event Hubs
- Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Experience with enterprise integrations such as Salesforce or SAP ISU
- Familiarity with cloud-native observability tools
