As part of project pathways initiative, you would be involved in defining, designing the target state platform and operating model of state street investment management arm.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive key technical initiatives and projects, improving existing platform capabilities, supporting operational adoption, and enabling future scalability and growth.

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across the full development lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, and delivery of large-scale, complex software solutions within business and technical domains.

  • Design, enhance, and maintain core frameworks and shared components, ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability of systems critical to platform operations.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Business Analysts to translate complex requirements into high-quality, low-latency, and sustainable software solutions.

  • Lead problem-solving efforts for complex technical challenges, directing resolution of advanced design, performance, data, and integration issues across major project phases.

  • Design and guide data domain interactions, applying best practices to ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment with existing data sources and platforms.

  • Develop, test, and implement production-grade software using Java, cloud-native technologies (AWS preferably), while maintaining a strong hands-on engineering role.

  • Good understanding of Front-end technologies such as React, JavaScript/TypeScript and its integration with middleware application hosting microservices.

  • Good understanding/hands-on in Python and emerging capabilities such as GenAI is preferable

  • Provide informed technical guidance through code and design reviews, offering critical analysis of proposed changes to ensure alignment with architectural standards and performance expectations.

  • Ensure high-quality software delivery by writing and reviewing unit, integration, and automated tests, with a focus on performance, resilience, and maintainability.

  • Continuously improve testing practices and frameworks, identifying opportunities to strengthen automation, coverage, and development efficiency.

  • Actively contribute to and help lead the agile delivery process, including participation in daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives, while promoting continuous improvement in engineering practices.

 Preferred qualifications and education

  • 18+ years of experience in software engineering, with deep expertise in object-oriented design, design patterns, SOLID principles, and industry best practices.

  • Strong proficiency in Java, with experience building scalable, high‑performance, multi‑tier applications.

  • Proven experience designing, building, and deploying distributed systems and scalable microservices, using API styles such as REST, RPC, gRPC, and OpenAPI.

  • Strong Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures on AWS and/or Azure, including modern data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.

  • Experience with messaging and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Apache Flink) for event-driven and real-time processing systems.

  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools, including Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.

  • Familiarity/experience of Front-end development using modern web technologies, including React, Node.js, HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript, and JSON.

  • Demonstrated Proven experience working with relational (SQL/RDBMS) and NoSQL data stores, including data modeling, performance tuning, and architectural trade-offs.

  • Strong understanding of and experience across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from design through deployment and production support.

  • Ability to analyze complex business and technical problems and lead the design and delivery of robust, high-performance software solutions.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI concepts, with the ability to practically apply AI‑enabled tools (e.g., Copilot or similar) to improve productivity, decision‑making, and delivery outcomes.

  • Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or data analysis is highly desirable.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and business teams; known for a positive, proactive, and can‑do attitude.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in financial services domain including exposure to OMS and EMS systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
