As a Senior IT Systems Administrator at Cabinetworks Group, you will play a crucial role in our IT infrastructure, ensuring our network services' smooth operation, reliability, and security. This position requires expertise in managing VMware environments, Identity Management including Active Directory and Entra. You will also serve as a detail-oriented Citrix Administrator, responsible for the company’s Citrix environment. Your responsibilities will include managing Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), Active Directory services, executing software and hardware upgrades, and administering Datto Backup systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- VMware Administration/Management: Install new hosts, perform VCenter and ESX upgrades, implement storage and network changes. Ability to troubleshoot performance issues.
- Citrix Administration/Management: Keep Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop up to date. This includes the template VMs and Citrix infrastructure components including the Directory Controller and Storefront servers.
- Windows Server Management: Keep Windows server patched and up to date using MECP (Formerly SCCM) or other tools. Build and deploy new servers on premise and in Azure.
- SQL Server Management: Manage SQL Server maintenance tasks including backups, restores, index maintenance and user security.
- Infrastructure Management: Maintain and optimize DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory to guarantee high availability and reliability.
- Hardware and Software Upgrades: Independently manage and execute significant software and hardware upgrades, ensuring current technological environments.
- Technical Support and Problem Solving: Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for complex issues across systems and network services.
- System Security: Implement and oversee security measures, including the application of updates and patches, to safeguard against vulnerabilities.
- Training and Documentation: Develop comprehensive training materials and conduct engaging sessions tailored for end-users to ensure their proficiency in using our IT systems and services. Maintain detailed and up-to-date system documentation, including guidelines, configurations, and procedures, to support consistent and efficient system management and user support.
- Project Leadership: Lead IT infrastructure projects from inception through to successful completion, overseeing all aspects of project management, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. Serve as a project leader, coordinating cross-functional teams, managing timelines, and ensuring project goals align with organizational objectives and standards.
- Datto Backup administration: Administration of the Datto backup environment. This includes backups, restores and DR testing.
Skills and Qualifications:
- VMware Expertise: Demonstrable experience managing VMware environments, with a strong understanding of virtualization technologies.
- Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp expertise: Proficient in administering and managing a Xen App/Xen Desktop environment. This includes building new apps. Keeping template servers up to date. Updating infrastructure servers.
- Network Services Management and fundamentals: Proven experience with DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory, as well as the ability to manage and upgrade hardware and software systems. Understands the role of VLANS, firewalls and load balancers in an enterprise environment.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Exceptional capability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues swiftly.
- Effective Communication and Training Skills: Excellent ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical staff and provide engaging training.
- Project Management and Leadership: Strong project management skills and a track record of successfully leading IT projects.
- PowerShell knowledge: Comfortable using PowerShell to make changes and automate tasks.
- Linux knowledge: Familiar with Linux and able to do basic navigation using a Linux shell.
- Windows RDS/Remote App administration: Experience with RDS sessions farms and RemoteApp.
- Active Directory/Group policy administration
- SQL Server Management: Experience managing a SQL Server environment including maintenance plans, backups, restores, installs, updates and security administration.
- Windows MECP (SCCM) management/administration
