Our engineering department, known as the Bureau of Technology (BoT), sits at the core of Back Market. It brings together over 30 agile product teams focused on building and scaling services that create real value for our customers and suppliers. These product teams are supported by our Platform group, which includes more than 10 specialized teams tackling cross-functional technical challenges to strengthen our operational excellence.
Within the Platform group, our IT function is divided into two teams:
IT Ops Specialists, who manage day-to-day support and operational needsIT Ops Engineering, a strategic team focused on automation, integration, and improving our internal tooling ecosystem.
This Senior System Engineer role sits within the IT Ops Engineering team, whose mission is to elevate global IT maturity at Back Market, by delivering robust technical solutions, increasing team productivity, enforcing best-in-class governance, and continuously improving the IT tech stack that supports our rapidly growing, international organization.


💡 Key Responsibilities
Technical Expertise & Influence- Act as a senior technical contributor within the Integration Engineering team, providing direction and thought leadership across complex automation and integration initiatives.- Design scalable architectures for IT workflows and systems, and bring clarity to technical choices through strong communication and documentation.- Influence technical strategy within the team and across IT-related stakeholders (Security, Workplace, HR Tech…).
Automation & Development at Scale- Build and maintain advanced automation across our internal SaaS ecosystem: Okta, Workday, Slack, Zoom, Atlassian suite, Jamf, and more.- Develop and own tools that enhance system efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support compliance/security needs.- Create and maintain integrations using Workato (or similar platforms), with a focus on scalability, observability, and reliability.
Technical Ownership & Delivery- Take end-to-end ownership of key projects: from design and prototyping to implementation and operational hand-off.- Lead incident post-mortems and root cause analysis for internal IT services.- Collaborate across departments to ensure internal tooling meets business requirements and scales with the organization.
Continuous Improvement & Enablement- Identify system inefficiencies and lead efforts to continuously improve internal processes.- Provide mentorship through peer reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical documentation.- Proactively drive the adoption of engineering best practices within the IT team.

What we're looking For

  • Experience in IT engineering, infrastructure, or automation roles in a SaaS-heavy environment.

  • Strong hands-on coding/scripting skills (Python, Shell scripting, or similar).

  • Solid experience with SaaS APIs and integration platforms (e.g., Workato, Zapier, Tray.io, n8n).

  • In-depth knowledge of Okta, identity lifecycle automation, and endpoint management (Jamf, Workspace ONE).

  • Ability to drive architectural decisions and lead technical projects across multiple teams.

  • Strong communication skills: you can advocate for your ideas clearly and constructively.

  • Fluent in English; French is a plus.
