The Global Commercial Office (GCO) Data Analytics & AI group is a growing team of experts on Data & Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI/ML) and Automation. We are a part of the Global Commercial Office IT group with a focus on building and maturing an ecosystem that provides analytics intelligence and actionable insights. We do this through providing services from consultation to execution of projects, harnessing the power of data, advanced analytics, and AI/ML, to drive business value for our stakeholders across Commercial Operations, Sales Enablement, Pricing & Contracting, Training & Events and Service & Repair.
The Senior IT Data Architect role is responsible for delivering Data Products aligned with business capability needs and enterprise standards. This role works with other Data Architects, Business Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Technical Architects and external service providers, to ensure data and information models and technologies align with stated architecture strategies and Medtronic’s standards and delivery capabilities. In a delivery capacity, this role will work with Business Analysts to review and complete business capability needs, definitions, and requirements, data analysis, data modeling, technical specification writing, and working with development organizations to ensure designs are delivered.
In this role, you will serve as a delivery team member and is responsible to review new initiatives, providing architecture guidance and decisions regarding the viability of data flows and models, components to design and operationalize the landscape, and participate as required within the Architecture Review Board to establish and maintain standards.

CAREERS THAT CHANGE LIVES

  • Design data model, flow, and technology aspects of solution architecture design, implementation, and modification activities across projects, teams and key process and technology leaders, using both cloud and on-premise technologies for Analytics and Insights, including but not limited to: Snowflake, Databricks, Coalesce, DBT, Informatica Cloud and Power Center, Airflow, Gitlab and AWS.
  • Define and implement data quality standards and processes.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to develop and deploy data pipelines, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with regional stakeholders to estimate work effort for development and enhancement requests supporting individual projects and broader team and enterprise strategies.
  • Consult with business and technology (application, infrastructure) development projects to fit systems and desired information outcomes to business capability needs and identify when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate project needs.
  • Partner with other architects to analyze data and evaluate architectural approach in accordance with Medtronic standards
  • Assess enterprise business drivers to determine and execute corresponding change requirements

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of experience with an advanced degree

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strongly Preferred:
    • Data science experience within a commercial data environment
    • Prior experience implementing machine learning models in a production environment
    • Exposure to Python or R for data science
  • Knowledge of Pricing for data science
  • Previous tenure in Healthcare, Medical Device or Life Sciences industries
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Palantir Foundry
    • PowerBI
    • Tableau
    • Snowflake
    • Databricks

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$104,000.00 - $156,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
