As Senior Insurance Manager, you lead the Group Insurance framework end-to-end—strategy, governance, renewals, claims, broker management and risk-aligned program design. You ensure full compliance, operational excellence and resilient protection across the Group and act as the central insurance authority, steering internal and external stakeholders and driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and standards. You have a strong background in managing global insurance programmes in a multinational defense & manufacturing environment, including policy negotiations, claims handling, and insurance cost allocation. Knowledge of Dutch insurance regulations and a broad understanding of global insurance solutions, including captives and alternative risk transfer, are essential for this role.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Insurance Program Management: Own and continuously optimise Destinus's global insurance portfolio, including property, general and product liability, D&O, cyber, marine/aviation cargo, and other lines relevant to an aerospace and defence business.
  • Renewals & Placement: Lead the annual renewal cycle end to end; coordinating underwriting submissions, market approaches, negotiations, and binding of coverage in partnership with brokers.
  • Broker & Carrier Relationships: Act as the primary point of contact for insurance brokers and carriers, driving competitive tendering where appropriate and holding partners accountable for service quality.
  • Claims Management: Manage the end-to-end claims process, coordinating between internal stakeholders, brokers, and insurers to ensure timely, fair settlement.
  • Risk Assessment: Partner with Legal, Procurement, Program teams, and site leads to identify emerging and site-specific risks (e.g. new facilities, test campaigns, new contracts) and ensure appropriate coverage is in place before exposure arises.
  • Coverage Adequacy & Gap Analysis: Regularly review policy limits, exclusions, and deductibles against the company's actual risk exposure, flagging gaps to ERM and Finance leadership.
  • Budget & Cost Management: Manage the insurance budget, forecast premium spend, and report on cost trends and coverage changes to Finance leadership.
  • Contract Support: Review insurance-related clauses in customer, supplier, and partner contracts, advising internal stakeholders on required coverage and certificates of insurance.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of policies, certificates, and claims history; ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual insurance requirements across jurisdictions.
  • ERM Integration: Contribute insurance-related risk data and insights into the broader Enterprise Risk Management framework, supporting risk registers and reporting to leadership.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the internal subject-matter expert on insurance matters, providing clear guidance to management and employees on coverage, incidents, and processes.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field; professional insurance/risk certification (e.g. ARM, CPCU, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate insurance, risk management, or a broker/carrier role, ideally including exposure to industrial, aerospace, defence, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial insurance lines: property, liability, D&O, cyber, and specialty/aviation coverage.
  • Experience negotiating with brokers and carriers, with a track record of securing favourable terms.
  • Familiarity with international insurance and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions (EU, Switzerland; other regions a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate operational risk into coverage requirements and budget impact.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; comfortable engaging with senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to risk management and insurance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders at all levels.

Benefits
