The Role
Role Description

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer on the Connectors Platform team at Dash, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of AI-powered products at Dropbox. In this critical role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and ML engineers, to design, develop, and maintain robust software applications that drive exceptional client value.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on large-scale distributed systems, focusing on reliability, scalability, and performance. Operating in a 0→1 environment, you will contribute to defining and building the next generation of AI-driven experiences at Dropbox.

The Connectors Platform serves as the backbone for integrating Dropbox’s AI-powered products with hundreds of third-party applications. This data ingestion platform is designed to handle and process massive volumes of data with reliability, security, and scalability at its core. As part of the team, you will contribute to three key focus areas:

  • Foundational Infrastructure: Build core components to accelerate connector development.
  • Expanding Connector Breadth: Drive integration with a growing number of third-party apps.
  • Enterprise Enablement: Develop tools and features to meet enterprise-specific needs.

Responsibilities
  • Define and deliver the vision for large, business-impacting projects amidst multiple constraints, ensuring successful outcomes through strategic planning and effective execution.
  • Demonstrate a proactive drive to develop innovative solutions for complex problems, fostering a culture of creativity and problem-solving within the team.
  • Push boundaries to leverage industry best practices and customer feedback to generate and implement breakthrough ideas that aim to create new products or advance existing products and drive our tools forward.
  • Leverage in-depth understanding of Dropbox’s business landscape, products, customers, and strategy to identify strategic opportunities for the team to support Dropbox in achieving its business objectives.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions for AI-powered applications.
  • Design and implement algorithms to optimize data ingestion, manage third-party rate limits, and enhance sync throughput and performance.
  • Develop and enhance platform capabilities to accelerate the creation and deployment of third-party integrations.
  • Improve critical metrics such as sync success rate, throughput, data completeness, and freshness to ensure a high-quality user experience.
  • Empower enterprise customers to build custom connectors by leveraging indexing APIs and tailored connector capabilities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by participating in code reviews, sharing knowledge, and mentoring junior engineers to promote growth and excellence.

On-call work may be necessary occasionally to help address bugs, outages, or other operational issues, with the goal of maintaining a stable and high-quality experience for our customers.

Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer, with a focus on delivering scalable and reliable solutions.
  • Strong expertise in backend development technologies such as Golang and Python (required), with familiarity in frontend frameworks like React (nice to have).
  • Extensive experience working with large-scale distributed systems.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate user requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and effectively presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholder
Preferred Qualifications
  • BA/BS in computer science, or related degree
  • Experience with building third party app integrations
  • Proven track record of defining technical roadmaps for the team.
