As a member of our Information Technology team, you'll play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our IT infrastructure. You will lead the development of scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems that support our scientific applications and business operations. What you'll do and learn:

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-availability infrastructure solutions, including data centers, cloud environments, and hybrid systems
  • Develop and execute infrastructure strategies that align with Schrödinger's business goals and scientific objectives
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to recommend improvements and innovations
  • Architect and optimize complex IT systems to ensure performance, reliability, and security
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate infrastructure solutions with applications and workflows
  • Implement and manage automation tools and processes to enhance system efficiency and reduce manual overhead
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers and IT staff
  • Lead infrastructure projects in a technical role, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to best practices
  • Foster a collaborative environment and drive continuous improvement within the infrastructure team
  • Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of infrastructure systems
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures for infrastructure management, including backup, disaster recovery, and security protocols
  • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness
  • Work closely with research scientists, software developers, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide infrastructure solutions that support their work
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner


What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience in a professional setting)
  • At least seven years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, with a minimum of three years in a lead role
  • Proven experience with cloud and on-prem network architecture, virtualization platforms (GCP, AWS, VMware, Azure), data center management, and WAN technologies
  • Deep background in virtualization, containerization, and automation tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
  • Expertise in designing and managing large-scale, high-performance infrastructure systems
  • In-depth knowledge of IT security principles, practices, and technologies

Estimated base salary range: $140,000 - $205,000. Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs.
