Senior Information Technology Officer (Network Unit) (25260421)

Join our team as a Network Infrastructure Designer and implementer for our vibrant campus.  As the appointed expert, you will spearhead the design and implementation of our cutting-edge wired and wireless network systems.  Your visionary skills will be crucial in overseeing the migration of our existing network infrastructure to a cloud-based environment, implement and operate WiFi AIOps, ensuring seamless connectivity for all. You will also be responsible for maintaining the campus network, ensuring our campus remains at the forefront of technological advancement. As our Network Services Stabilisation and Performance Expert, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of network services to our esteemed University community. Your expertise will be critical in identifying and troubleshooting any network issues that may arise, and implementing effective solutions to enhance network performance and reliability. Responsibilities:

  • As a valued member of our IT team, you will assist the IT Manager to work collaboratively with a group of IT professionals to handle a wide range of network-related tasks, including design, implementation, operation, and migration to the latest cutting-edge wired and wireless technology;
  • Responsible for providing network administration, monitoring, performance tuning and troubleshooting for network access on our University's data centers and IT infrastructure, with a focus on internal network and infrastructure; 
  • Responsible for campus facilities including structure cabling and hub room / data center site work; 
  • Ensure the healthiness and utilisation of all Wired and Wireless network related services, ensuring that our network is operating at optimal level;
  • Manage the hardware and software inventory and relevant system upgrade and acquisition; and
  • Perform ad hoc assignments and responsibilities requested by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or a related discipline;
  • Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure project implementation and support in an enterprise environment for managing Wi-Fi, firewall systems and campus network operation;
  • Solid experience in cybersecurity products, like Checkpoint, Radware, Huawei and Palo-Alto;
  • Solid experience in managing enterprise routing and switching solutions, like Cisco, Huawei, Juniper;
  • Solid experience in implementing, managing routing and switching for large-scale enterprise network.Knowledge and experience in BGP, OSPF, RIP and SD-WAN;
  • Knowledge and experience in Linux, Radius, DNS, DHCP, IPv4 and IPv6;
  • Knowledge and experience with router, switch, firewall and Wi-Fi system;
  • Able to work independently and under pressure;
  • Good problem-solving skill for handling networking and cybersecurity operations issue; and
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated, detail minded and ready to adopt new technologies.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review and mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Skills Required
