We are looking for a Senior Indirect Tax Specialist who isn't just executing compliance tasks, but acts as a strategic thinker understanding how efficient tax processes fuel international growth. You will take ownership of our indirect tax position across our core markets (NL, DE, and FR) and act as a key financial partner for new business initiatives. You will report to the Tax Lead in Amsterdam, but you are expected to take full ownership of tax processes across our international entities, bridging the gap between external advisors and internal teams, driving automation and enabling the business to grow faster than ever! The focus of this role will be in the field of Indirect Tax, but we are looking for someone who is also interest to expand their expertise into broad tax areas like Tax Reporting, product taxes, Transfer Pricing (TP), and wage taxes. You don't wait to be told what to do - you spot opportunities for improvement and just do it. If you're process-oriented and ready to help scale the finance domain of the future, we want you on our team!
Tricks of the trade- Lead indirect tax matters: Oversee and review international tax filings across NL, DE, and FR to guarantee absolute accuracy (overseeing the process rather than acting as a primary preparer).
- Pioneer e-invoicing & automation: Drive process improvement and automation within our tax workflows, focusing on upcoming European e-invoicing mandates, digital reporting, and smart system integrations to eliminate manual work.
- Implement a tax control framework (TCF): Design, implement, and maintain a robust Tax Control Framework to set up scalable tax processes, mitigate risk, and support new business initiatives and international setups.
- Lead tax audits & authority relations: Together with the Tax Lead you will act as the main point of contact for tax authorities across NL, DE, and FR, leading indirect tax audits and managing external advisor relationships.
- Be a strategic business partner: Work seamlessly with cross-functional partners (tech, supply chain, commercial, legal etc) as a key tax advisor for new business initiatives, product launches, expansions into new territories, and regulatory updates impacting the business.
- Knowledge transition & broad tax scope: Coordinate with external advisors while transitioning key tax knowledge in-house and train the broader finance organisation. Gain hands-on exposure to cross-functional fields including product-specific taxes/surcharges, Transfer Pricing, and wage tax topics.
- Master's degree in Tax Law, Tax Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of relevant tax experience in indirect tax (VAT) or tax reporting, ideally combining top-tier tax advisory with in-house experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven track record in process improvement, tax automation, and working with e-invoicing frameworks.
- Practical experience establishing or optimizing a Tax Control Framework (TCF) or a proven track record of leading tax audits is a big plus.
- Strong technical expertise in European VAT regulations (especially across NL, DE, and FR).
- Proactive, ownership-driven, and process-oriented—you don't wait to be told what to do; you spot opportunities for improvement and build future-proof workflows.
- Workday knowledge is a big plus).
- Fluency in English (verbal and written); proficiency in Dutch, German, or French is a plus.
