The Group Tax function is focused on supporting all areas of the business with growth plans and day-to-day operations, along with meeting our tax compliance obligations.
About The Role
We are looking for an experienced individual to lead the VAT team for the EMEA region. As Senior VAT Manager for EMEA, you will be responsible for overseeing the VAT compliance for the region and providing VAT advise and support to the business. This includes:
- Managing and working with external advisors to ensure the timely preparation and submission of monthly VAT filings (VAT return, Intrastat, EC Sales Lists etc.) across multiple European entities and territories and where necessary, responding to audits.
- Managing a team of two VAT specialists to ensure the monthly extraction of financial data from our SAP ERP system, analysing it to ensure complete and accurate information is reported, for onward provision to external advisors who will prepare the necessary filings.
- Ensuring the review and approval of all filings prepared by external advisors, prior to its submission to governmental authorities.
- Ensuring all VAT payments are made by the required deadlines to tax authorities, following submission of the returns.
- Ownership and approval of all VAT balance sheet reconciliations and other compliance oversight controls.
- Interfacing with the business in carrying out assurance reviews and testing to identify weaknesses and improvements while driving change in other teams’ processes to deliver improved controls and more efficient VAT reporting.
- Responding to non-standard requests received from external stakeholders, including tax authorities, external auditors and other areas of the business.
- Leading VAT technical input of wider business projects with VAT and systems implementation with other key stakeholders.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, with an accounting and/or tax qualification.
- Proven record of managing large compliance programmes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ability to partner with and to hold to account external advisors.
- Strong technical and operational VAT experience gained in-house or a combination of in-house and in-practice.
- An excellent verbal and written communicator.
- Proven ability to build relationships across the business, lead people and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex, ever-changing environment.
