Position Summary
The Talent Services Senior Manager partners with the Chief Talent Officer, Co-President, Administrative Shareholder and Business Director to provide talent services, professional development and recruiting support to the Firm’s Washington, DC office in the areas of performance management, training and development, employee relations, policy administration, and other areas within the Talent Services department.
Key Responsibilities
Leads the recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts for attorneys and staff, including identifying candidates and conducting new hire orientation
Collaborates with management to enhance morale, engagement, and retention by developing initiatives that promote professional growth, opportunity, and a positive office culture
Acts as a resource for employees and management by providing guidance on human resource policies and interpretation, benefits, FMLA, STD/LTD, and Worker’s Compensation, while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
Manages employee relations by addressing and resolving complex issues, supporting managers with coaching, counseling, performance management, and administering corrective actions or disciplinary processes, including the management of disciplinary meetings or separations.
Oversees the performance management process for associates and staff, including talent reviews, development of improvement plans, and facilitation of manager training and professional development programs.
Demonstrates a solid understanding of fundamental compensation principles; provides informed salary recommendations and supports the Business Director in the annual administration of salaries and bonuses
Collaborates with Talent Services to identify career paths and Professional Development resources for training and skill development; and ensures all training requirements are completed
In collaboration with Talent Services leadership, provides input on workforce and succession planning
Ensures the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all personnel records, including recruitment documentation, I-9s, EEO files, and new hire/separation records
Develops, implements, and continuously improves HR processes, practices, and procedures, recommending policy changes where appropriate and supporting change management initiatives within the office
Administers associate mentoring and local training programs, partners with the GT Hoffman Center and local Shareholders to deliver targeted professional development, and also acts as a resource for CLE compliance
Collaborates with office management and the Career Development Liaisons to support the growth, development, and retention of associates
Manages the legal support staff, ensuring they deliver effective assistance to the attorneys
Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Skills & Competencies:
Ability to establish credibility with staff, attorneys, and executive management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor, and presentation
Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and effectively prioritize multiple tasks
Analytical with strong problem-solving skills, takes initiative and uses good judgment, excellent follow-up skills

Education & Prior Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development, or related field
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Human Resources, business management, or related field preferably in a law firm environment or professional services organization, including prior management/supervisory experience
Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred
Demonstrated experience recruiting and understanding of best practices in Human Resources a plus
General knowledge of employment laws and practices
Strong understanding of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs
Technology:
Experience with ATS and HRIS systems, preferably with Workday
Proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook as well as Adobe
Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly
The expected pay range for this position is:
$150,000 - $160,000 per year
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.
