Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 per year plus 10% AIP

 

Summary: At Aptiv, we inspire the world's most innovative teams by doing the right thing, the right way. As our Human Resources Manager, you will be the primary “hands-on" HR partner for the Engineered Cables manufacturing team. You will be responsible for overseeing all daily HR operations and leading the implementation of HR best practices tailored for the Aerospace & Defense industry, ensuring the seamless execution of all related processes. You will maintain a highly visible presence within the production environment, serving as the subject matter expert on all core HR functions. This includes Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Training, Performance Management, Succession Planning, LOA, Benefits, Compensation, Offboarding, Payroll, and Compliance.

This position reports to the HRBP.

 

Leadership & Core Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary HR point-of-contact for the entire Production team, championing the Aptiv culture and delivering exceptional service.
  • Manage all employee relations, conducting thorough investigations, and providing trusted guidance to employees and leadership.
  • Oversee all day-to-day HR operations for the manufacturing team, including talent acquisition, onboarding, training, performance management, succession planning, recognition programs, LOA, benefits, compensation, offboarding and legal compliance.
  • Collaborate with Production leadership to create and implement HR policies and procedures that improve employee development and efficiency.
  • Plan and execute the TA strategy to ensure uninterrupted production by the manufacturing team.
  • Lead the annual performance evaluation process, providing guidance to managers and employees.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop assigned personnel, fostering a high-performing and motivated environment.
  • Lead succession planning to build the Production leadership pipeline.
  • Partner with leadership to identify training needs and manage training and development programs, ensuring QMS compliance.
  • Conduct comp benchmarking analyses and help create and maintain compensation bands.
  • Oversee the time and attendance process by auditing all timecards for accuracy, ensuring full compliance with California wage and hour laws, and timely and accurate pay processing.
  • Serve as the frontline resource for benefits enrollment and employee inquiries, partnering with the management team.
  • Oversee and communicate all leave of absence (LOA) and accommodation requests, ensuring full compliance with FMLA, CFRA, and state/federal laws.
  • Partner with the EHS/Safety team to oversee all Workers' Compensation claims and promote a 'safety-first' culture.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all federal and California state employment laws, ITAR regulations, and AS9100/QMS requirements.
  • Oversee HR data integrity, manage all HR-related audit-readiness, and partner with payroll to ensure seamless operations.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive HR experience with increasing leadership responsibility, preferably in a mid-sized manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing complex employee relations dynamics within a fast-paced production workforce.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) due to ITAR regulations.
  • Well-versed in employment laws and regulations, with deep expertise in California state law.
  • Skilled in developing future leaders and finding ways to help others grow.
  • Experience supporting an AS9100/ISO9100 certified Quality Management System is highly preferred. This includes managing competency, training, and awareness programs (Clause 7.2, 7.3).
  • Bilingual in Vietnamese or Spanish is required to effectively support our manufacturing team.
  • HRIS savvy (BambooHR, Paycom, ADP) and proficient in Google Workspace.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
 

Certifications & Competencies:

Systems Proficiency: Google Workspace / SmartView / Salesforce / ADP / Syspro / QMS / Planful / AwardCo.

Core Competencies: Strong communication, sound judgment, teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 6 to 9 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive and up-to-date mastery of California labor laws and manufacturing compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of US Federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience in managing complex employee relations issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday).
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
