The Senior Human Resources (HR) Auditor position at the City of Tucson’s Human Resources Department provides oversight and support for HR operational and financial review activities to promote efficiency, accountability, and compliance with organizational standards. Collaborates with leadership to evaluate processes, assess risks, and recommend improvements that strength departmental performance. Analyzes information, prepares reports, and communicates findings to support informed decision making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Work is performed under the supervisor of the HR Director. This position supervises the HR auditing division

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with HR leadership to design auditing projects in alignment with departmental goals and project timelines.

  • Maintains accurate financial records and document for all HR Department projects.

  • Participates in the development of HR financial policies and procedures.

  • Supervises and oversees auditing projects for HR projects that have any financial impact to the organization, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of auditing outcome reports.

  • Performs complex data analyses, conducts interviews of HR staff, and observes and documents operational procedures.

  • Conducts complex internal audits across the Human Resources Department divisions to identify process improvements and develop quality control recommendations.

  • Conducts analysis on audit findings and prepares reports and recommendations.

  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned by the HR Director.


Working Conditions:

Mostly office environment.  

All duties and responsibilities listed are subject to change.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Three (3) years of directly related experience
License/Certifications: A valid and unrestricted driver’s license with two (2) years of licensed driving is required.
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Degree in Accounting, Human Resources or Business Administration.
Work Experience:
Experience in Human Resources and/or Business Services.
Experience in the preparation and analysis of compensation structures used at all organizational levels within the public sector.
Experience in human resources accounting projects supporting citywide budget impact such as comprehensive classification and compensation system design, pay equity, compliance, and employee student loan/tuition reimbursement projects.
