AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned federal government contractor, is seeking a Senior HPC Data Storage Engineer to manage and optimize high-performance storage supporting mission-critical scientific and technical computing for a specialized customer environment. You’ll collaborate with HPC, systems, network, and cybersecurity professionals to ensure data remains available, secure, and optimized for demanding workloads.

ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior HPC Data Storage Engineer with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following:
- Administer and maintain high-performance storage supporting Linux-based HPC systems.
- Manage storage capacity, quotas, data placement, utilization, and performance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot parallel filesystems, storage hardware, and related infrastructure.
- Support SAN, NAS, archive, and other enterprise storage technologies.
- Analyze storage performance and recommend improvements for HPC users and mission workloads.
- Develop scripts and automation using Bash, Python, Perl, or similar tools.
- Support system maintenance, upgrades, incident response, and technical documentation.
- Apply required security, access control, and configuration management practices.
- Collaborate with HPC users, systems engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders.
- Provide remote technical support to a counterpart at an alternate site as needed.
- Current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Ability to obtain and maintain access to a Special Access Program.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field
- 5-7 years of related experience supporting HPC, Linux systems, storage, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering. (or a Master's degree in related field and 2+ years of job-related experience)
- DoD 8140 IAT II level or higher certification (e.g., Security+ CE, SecurityX CE, etc.)
- Experience administering, monitoring, or troubleshooting a parallel filesystem such as Lustre, BeeGFS, GPFS, or a comparable technology.
- Experience supporting production Linux systems and enterprise storage, including SAN, NAS, disk arrays, or tape/archive systems.
- Practical scripting experience with Bash, Python, Perl, or a similar language.
- Working knowledge of Linux filesystems, storage administration, permissions, quotas, and networking concepts.
- Ability to diagnose system, storage, software, and performance issues.
- Ability to work effectively in a secure, controlled-access environment and communicate technical information clearly.
- RHCSA or RHCE certification
- Experience with Ansible, Git, monitoring tools, or infrastructure automation.
- Production experience building, configuring, or administering Lustre or another parallel filesystem in an HPC environment.
- Experience using tools such as perf, strace, tcpdump, vmstat, or iostat for system and performance troubleshooting.
- Experience with SAN infrastructure, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, multipathing, NVMe, or high-speed networking such as InfiniBand.
- Familiarity with filesystems such as XFS, EXT4, or ZFS.
- Experience supporting systems in a DoW classified environment.

Pay Transparency StatementAMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $140,000.00/Yr. - USD $160,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
