- We are seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team, specializing in board-level 4G/5G RAN design and hardware development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RF hardware design, embedded systems, and ruggedized electronics, with a focus on delivering high-performance, reliable solutions for mission-critical applications in challenging environments.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development:
- Develop design, schematics, oversee PCB layout, and perform board bring-u p for 4G LTE and 5G NR systems operating in sub-6 GHz bands.
- Design for ruggedized electronics, ensuring compliance with relevant standards for environmental and electromagnetic compatibility.
- Ensure designs meet stringent requirements for shock, vibration, temperature extremes, and EMI/EMC.
- Review and advise on board level simulations and PCB Layout.
- ·RF System Integration:
- Optimize signal integrity, power efficiency, and thermal performance for compact, high-density designs.
- Testing, Debugging, & Integration:
- Conduct board-level testing, debugging, rework, and validation using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other lab equipment.
- Support system-level integration and field testing.
- Collaboration and Documentation:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of hardware solutions.
- Work with external parties for PCB layout and prototype production.
- Create detailed design documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and test plans.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure designs comply with 3GPP standards for 4G/5G.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in board-level design, with a focus on 4G/5G designs.
- Proven experience designing electronics for ruggedized platforms.
- Hands-on experience with RF design.
- Proven experience in project management within hardware or RF system development, including planning, execution, and cross-functional coordination.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in high-speed circuits including FPGA, SDRAM, SERDES, Ethernet, and RF circuit design.
- Knowledge of thermal management and power supply design for rugged environments
- Knowledge of PCB layout for high-frequency signals.
- Familiarity with embedded systems and FPGA integration.
- Knowledge of harsh environmental standards and 3GPP 4G/5G specifications.
- Experience debugging complex digital and RF circuits.
- Experience with lab equipment for RF testing and validation (e.g., spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers).
- Familiarity with Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platforms or Open RAN architectures.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Experience working with third parties on board layout and prototype production.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
- Work Environment:
- Hybrid, minimum of 3 days per week onsite in Nashua, NH with occasional travel for field testing or customer engagements.
