Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Project Engineer – Hardware Electronics is responsible for the design, development, and validation of electronic hardware for automotive control modules and switches. This role supports the complete hardware development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, schematic design, circuit analysis, PCB layout oversight, testing, and troubleshooting. The position works closely with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver high-quality hardware solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design circuit board schematics for discrete electronics and embedded microprocessor-based control systems in accordance with system requirements.
  • Perform engineering analyses, including DFMEA, Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA), and thermal analysis.
  • Serve as the primary hardware technical contact for customers.
  • Select electronic hardware components and manage the bill of materials (BOM).
  • Collaborate with production and purchasing to identify and approve suppliers.
  • Support hardware development throughout the product lifecycle, including prototype, validation, production release, and product maintenance.
  • Conduct hardware design and drawing reviews.
  • Develop hardware requirements and maintain traceability to customer specifications.
  • Work closely with software engineers to define hardware/software interfaces and control strategies.
  • Support DV/PV testing, including EMC testing and troubleshooting.
  • Lead customer discussions related to hardware development and technical issue resolution.
  • Drive root cause analysis using the 8D methodology.
  • Support customer presentations and new business pursuits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • 10+ years of experience in electronic hardware design, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Experience with LIN and CAN communication circuits.
  • Proficiency in WCCA (Mathcad, PSpice), DFMEA, and thermal analysis.
  • Experience directing PCB layout with EMC considerations.
