Meet the Team
As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you'll join a collaborative team responsible for designing, integrating, and delivering the hardware systems that power Torc's autonomous driving platform. Working alongside mechanical, electrical, systems, software, and autonomy engineers, you'll help bring complex autonomous vehicle hardware from concept through integration, validation, and deployment.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality hardware solutions are delivered efficiently and reliably, supporting autonomous operation across a variety of unstructured environments. You'll have the opportunity to influence engineering standards, improve hardware integration processes, mentor fellow engineers, and solve challenging real-world autonomy problems.
What You'll Do
  • Lead end-to-end hardware integration and vehicle commissioning from system architecture through operational readiness.
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve standardized hardware integration and commissioning processes that enable efficient, high-quality deployments.
  • Own the creation of component, integration, and test specifications to ensure hardware solutions meet quality, performance, and reliability expectations.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for hardware fabrication, integration, system bring-up, and validation activities.
  • Partner closely with mechanical, electrical, systems, software, and autonomy engineering teams to successfully integrate complex hardware systems.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engineering efforts to ensure hardware deliverables align with program objectives and development timelines.
  • Manage supplier engagement, procurement timelines, and hardware readiness to support successful program execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying trends in hardware quality, engineering processes, and system performance.
  • Mentor junior engineers, establish engineering best practices, and contribute to the team's technical growth.
  • Communicate technical progress, risks, and program readiness to engineering leadership.
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with 6+ years of industry experience, or a Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and validating complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience leading hardware integration, system bring-up, commissioning, or vehicle integration efforts.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and systems integration principles.
  • Experience developing hardware requirements, component specifications, integration plans, and test procedures.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and managing hardware procurement or vendor deliverables.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills across integrated hardware systems.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver complex technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive engineering process improvements while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence technical stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience working with prototype or production hardware throughout the development lifecycle.
Bonus Points
  • Experience developing hardware for autonomous vehicles, robotics, automotive, or other complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience commissioning or integrating autonomous vehicle hardware platforms.
  • Experience with sensors including cameras, LiDAR, radar, GPS, IMUs, or other perception hardware.
  • Familiarity with vehicle electrical architectures, networking, or embedded hardware systems.
  • Experience with hardware validation, verification, and system-level testing.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, hardware quality processes, or systems engineering best practices.
  • Experience developing scalable engineering standards, integration processes, or commissioning workflows.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives across cross-functional teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Torc's total compensation package will also include our corporate bonus and stock option plan. Dependent on the position offered, sign-on payments, relocation, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
