About Rivet
Rivet is an American company building integrated task systems — fusing hardened hardware with software, sensors, AI, and networking — for industrial workforces and defense personnel. We create capabilities that multiply the effectiveness of every individual and withstand the world’s toughest environments.
We serve the people who build, operate, maintain, and defend our way of life. From technicians and engineers to first responders and service members, they embody the hard work, ingenuity, and meritocratic values that drive Western prosperity. Yet too often they are forced to rely on outdated tools that fail under modern pressures. Rivet exists to reset that priority.
At Rivet, you’ll join a mission-driven team that fuses disciplines to deliver decisive outcomes where they matter most. Whether shaping our technology, strengthening our partnerships, or building our culture, every role here contributes to equipping the front lines with the modern systems they deserve.
Work Authorization Requirement: Due to the nature of our business and compliance with federal regulations, all candidates must be a "U.S. Person". Upon hire, you will be required to provide documentation verifying your status as a U.S. Citizen, a lawful permanent resident, or a protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Summary

The Senior Hardware Engineer, EMI/EMC will own EMI/EMC design, testing, and compliance across Rivet’s hardware products and systems. You will solve challenging electromagnetic interference and compatibility issues at both the subsystem and complete-system level. This role will work closely with electrical, RF, mechanical, firmware, and systems engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle. You will translate military and commercial EMI/EMC requirements into practical design solutions and validation plans. You will also partner with external manufacturers, ODMs, and certification laboratories to diagnose issues and achieve compliance. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on EMI/EMC expertise and experience developing ruggedized hardware for demanding environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EMI/EMC design, troubleshooting, testing, and compliance for hardware products and integrated systems.

  • Drive compliance with MIL-STD-461G/H, including RE102, RS103, and other applicable requirements, as well as FCC Part 15 and other relevant standards.

  • Review PCB layouts, schematics, grounding, shielding, filtering, cabling, and mechanical designs and recommend changes to mitigate EMI/EMC risks.

  • Review mechanical designs of enclosures, connectors, and cables for EMC/ EMI compliance.

  • Partner closely with EE, RF, mechanical, firmware, and systems engineering teams to identify root causes and implement cross-disciplinary solutions.

  • Work with external manufacturers, ODM partners, and certification laboratories to debug issues, execute testing, and obtain required certifications.

  • Establish EMI/EMC test strategies and drive issues to resolution from early design through production.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience in EMI/EMC engineering, design, testing, or compliance for complex electronic systems.

  • Strong working knowledge of MIL-STD-461G/H requirements and test methods, particularly radiated emissions and susceptibility.

  • Hands-on experience diagnosing and resolving EMI/EMC issues at both the PCB/subsystem and complete-system levels.

  • Experience reviewing PCB layouts and hardware designs for EMI/EMC performance, including grounding, shielding, filtering, and signal integrity considerations.

  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and experience working with EE, RF, mechanical, manufacturing, and external certification teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Compensation may vary within the posted range based on relevant experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for equity and other forms of compensation. Eligible employees also receive a competitive benefits package, including unlimited PTO.
