About the role: 

CHANEL is looking for a Senior Group Director of eRetail to join our e-Business Team in New York CityYou will play a leading role in developing the strategy for investment in the eRetail channel, directly supporting the goals and ambitions of the Fragrance & Beauty (F&B) divisionYou will harness a deep understanding of the brand initiatives and touchpoints to translate them into brand-right online experiences – attracting and loyalizingclients to the brand unique ethos, even beyond conversion and sales. The ideal candidate has a minimum of twelve years' experience in Ecommerce, catalogue and/or Digital Marketing roles.

The rapid acceleration and unique dynamism of the e-Business, retailer.com space has established this channel as a key contributor to omni sales and profitability for the Multi Brand Retail (MBR) business. As this space evolves, this Senior Group Director, eRetail leader will develop and action on dedicated strategy and objectives to ensure the appropriate development and execution of online media and marketing plans for the brand experience, operational effectiveness, and conversion.

 

What impact you can create at CHANEL: 

  • Accountable for shaping the eRetail strategy, driving conversion and sales, and nurturing key relationships internally and externally, to distort exceptionally our branded exposure at MBR eRetail 

  • Ensure efficient collaboration between Global, Marketing, Creative, Tech and other cross-functional teams to deliver on eRetail sales and experiential objectives 

  • Forge new relationships with cross-functional teams to expand the impact and potential of the eRetail business. 

  • Actively seek new POV’s and educate others on the F&B eRetail business 

  • Lead a team responsible for the delivering against the divisional strategy and executing day-to-day operations relating to eRetail with oversight responsibility for key performance drivers 

  • Develop a transversal vision, structure, and roadmap for the team, creating broader focus on channel specific opportunities and objectives 

  • Partner to develop unique marketing and sales programs, influencing the organization to test & learn by measuring program effectiveness, and sharing insights for future optimization and improvement.  

  • Establish comprehensive monthly insights report to share with division – providing market, competitor, account, brand, and placement insights – aggregating all data sources available to eRetail team (Circana, Similar Web, Syndigo, RMN, Cognos, & Account Feedback) 

  • Ensuring the effectiveness of our brand content – display navigation, merchandising, search functionality etc., to ensure a consistent customer experience across MBR accounts 

  • Provide insights and strategic recommendations to tailor brand content to retailer and/or platform specific audiences 

  • Identify seasonal and long-term growth opportunities based on an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape, marketplace dynamics, consumer habits and behaviors and brands strategies. 

  • Synergize multi and cross channel marketing programming, while partnering with marketing to enhance storytelling for a seamless customer’s experience 

  • Work in close partnership with Chanel.com team to help identify synergies and ensuring we are strategically maximizing our total E-Business to unlock true incrementality via retailer.com 

  • Partner with Global eRetail teams to align on global parameters, whilst optimizing critical regional and commercial needs 

  • Actively build working partnership with Global eRetail team, educating them on the unique online distribution landscape in the US 

  • Advocate for US demonstrated opportunities and test ideas to further optimize strategy and deliver on objectives  

  • Accountable for ensuring engagement and conversion – partner with account planning to maintain appropriate inventory support and execution of new campaigns. 

  • This role will interface with product focus teams to understand future innovations and services, translating these into branded online and offline customer experiences. 

  • Lead the development of strategy and execution of eRetail Media investments – actively exploring new opportunities and measuring the performance of placements.  

  • Building strong working relationships externally with Retailer Media Networks and internally – particularly with the CHANEL Media team 

  • Continue to optimize site monitoring and auditing with respect to Global Guidelines, protecting image first while working to unlock new performance-driving opportunities 

  • Lead the planning, management, and financial tracking of the eRetail Budget. Provide strategic recommendations and insights in future investment approach to senior leadership and cross-functional partners. Evolve the process and documentation of budget to streamline and ensure accuracy. Build working relationship with Finance to develop a transparent and proactive approach to managing the eRetail budget, forecasting, actuals, and accruals.  

  • Act as point person for CHANEL Legal, Business Transformation, Account Development, and Senior Leadership for any digital POS in the US. Proactively and consistently advocate for the needs and opportunities for eRetail in new or evolving business ventures.  

  • Research and conduct exploratory discussions with Vendors in the digital market, to identify potential resources or new business levers for eRetail

  • Project management and strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to prioritize and oversee multiple concurrent projects with attention to detail and cross-functional collaboration 

  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced retailer environment, acumen to lead, influence and innovate quickly as part of an entrepreneurial team 

  • Proficiency in common productivity tools (All Microsoft Office programs) 

  • Self-motivation, results/performance-orientation and the ability to articulate complex digital/social/tech concepts to a non-digital audience 

 

Position Logistics: 

  • This position is based in New York City, with a hybrid work model requiring 3 days on-site at the CHANEL offices in Manhattan 

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience with at least seven years in senior Ecommerce, catalogue and/or Digital Marketing roles 

  • People leadership experience required 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred

Compensation:  

  • The anticipated base salary range for this position is $172,600 through $190,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks
