A successful Senior Designer can step back and see the whole picture, where everything connects—and can zoom in to finesse the tiniest details! Being comfortable collaborating with others—from our writers and marketing team to product and tech teams and not considering something complete until the kerning is just right. Knowing when to be flexible, but always maintain high standards for original concepts and detailed executions. A love for visual storytelling, branding, experimenting with new ideas, and driving the UncommonGoods brand forward is needed!

This hybrid role works on-site at our waterfront Brooklyn location 2 days per week.

  • Coordinate with other internal departments (marketing) as well as external vendors (printers).

  • Collaborate with other creative team members to ensure consistency across platforms and assets.
  • Work closely, building great relationships, with cross-functional partners in product management, merchandising, and marketing to define and understand seasonal strategies and campaigns in order to develop concepts, designs, and art direction to support the strategy.
  • Be a proactive problem solver by seeking out opportunities to better our visual communication and design.
  • Work closely with Creative Director, Design Director and Chief Brand Officer.
  •

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of design experience—background in e-commerce and retail is a plus.

What We Do

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, Uncommon Goods offers remarkable designs by independent makers, and we do it with a positive impact on both people and our planet. We want to change the way business is conducted by making sustainability a part of every decision we make. As a certified B Corporation, we hold ourselves to a high standard of social responsibility. That means printing our catalog on recycled, FSC-certified paper, offering a starting wage that's 100% above the federal minimum, selling products that are fur/feather/leather-free, and donating over $2 million (so far) to our partner non-profits.
