This Senior Grant Acquisition Specialist identifies, pursues, and acquires funding from US Government agencies such as USAID and international or multilateral donor agencies. She or he will perform comprehensive grant writing, proposal development, market analysis, and manage relationships with donor agency representatives and stakeholders. This senior specialist will work closely with program teams to align funding opportunities with organizational goals and program needs. Utilizing a strong understanding of ministry's program effectiveness, the incumbent will reflect its capabilities in proposals, capabilities statements, and other external work products. At this career level, she or he leads or conducts major, proposals and initiatives for multiple countries. Further, she or he often coaches and oversees the work of other specialists and related staff.

What will you do?

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.

  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.

  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors

  • Administers and improves the system for tracking government and multilateral grant opportunities from identification to submission.

  • Conducts market and competitor landscape analyzes, reporting on upcoming and ongoing funding opportunities, and compares the strategic fit of grant opportunities with organizational objectives and program needs.

  • Investigate sub-grant partnering opportunities under existing awards, including competitive sub-grant rounds and cases of donor or prime partner being open to the adoption of new sub-partners for existing awards.

  • Oversees and drives development and submission of grant proposals including coordination or proposal team, facilitating workshops and targeted internal engagement with Core Grants Team, Global Program, and other units. Design grant acquisition workshops, pipeline prioritization meetings, and drives strategic grant planning. Ensures coordination with global program, finance, MERL, and legal teams to gather necessary information for proposals.

  • Collaborate with other teams such as global program, finance, MERL, and legal to gather and consolidate information for proposals.

  • Ensures timely submission of high-quality grant proposals to USAID and other donors.

  • Assures quality editing, proofreading and adherence to compliance standards of all grant proposals, checking against RFA requirements and donor guidelines and ensuring proposals meet specific funding priorities and criteria set by donor.

  • Provides expertise in development of program description, MERL, and budget templates and assure supporting documents required for proposals are available to and used by all participants in grant acquisition processes.

  • Cooperate with the Global Philanthropic Engagement (GPE) team regarding corporate and foundation partnerships relevant to grants and potential match or leveraged funding for grant proposals.

What do you bring?

  • Ten years relevant experience assessing, prioritizing, and applying for government grants, primarily USAID.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

  • Certification from a nationally or internationally recognized organization in a related field.
