Job Description
Design to Launch (D2L) is Bose's enterprise process for converting customer and market needs into designed, validated, manufacturable, serviceable, and commercially launched products and experiences.
The Design to Launch Global Process Owner (D2L GPO) is accountable for the effectiveness of this end-to-end process across Bose. This role does not own individual products or programs; it owns the process architecture, governance, decision framework, performance system, data requirements, and transformation roadmap that enable Bose to launch better products faster, with greater predictability, stronger economics, and higher quality.
The ideal candidate brings experience across product creation, enterprise process ownership, integrated hardware/software development, financial governance, product data and systems, and external manufacturing and development ecosystems. This leader must be able to influence senior stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide changes across a complex global organization.
Key Responsibilities
Process Ownership & Governance
  • Own the global D2L process architecture, standards, governance, performance model, and transformation roadmap.
  • Define the end-to-end process from product opportunity and requirements through development, validation, industrialization, launch, and lifecycle management.
  • Establish clear roles, decision rights, stage gates, milestones, maturity criteria, and escalation paths.
  • Balance enterprise standards with appropriate flexibility based on product type, complexity, investment, and risk.

Stage-Gate & Financial Integration
  • Integrate stage-gate and financial reviews throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Partner with Finance, Product, Engineering, and Operations to establish maturity expectations and financial criteria at key decision points.
  • Ensure business cases evolve throughout development to reflect investment, product cost, margin, revenue, timing, and risk.
  • Improve visibility into the financial impact of requirements changes, rework, delays, and complexity.

Product Development & Partner Ecosystem
  • Ensure D2L supports custom, platform-based, and hybrid product development models.
  • Incorporate platform maturity, technology readiness, reuse opportunities, and dependencies into appropriate decision points.
  • Establish common processes and expectations across internal teams, external development partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.

Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Define enterprise KPIs for development speed, predictability, quality, investment effectiveness, cost, and launch readiness.
  • Identify and address systemic causes of rework, late requirements changes, schedule instability, and downstream quality or manufacturing issues.
  • Lead continuous improvement and end-to-end redesign of the D2L process using data and performance insights.

Digital, Data & Systems Enablement
  • Partner with Technology, Data, Engineering Systems, and functional teams to ensure technology supports the target D2L process.
  • Enable effective integration across PLM, ALM, requirements management, ERP, quality, sourcing, analytics, and collaboration platforms.

Launch Readiness & Change Leadership
  • Establish common launch-readiness criteria across Product, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply, Service, Marketing, Sales, and channel organizations.
  • Strengthen the transition from development into scaled production, commercialization, and lifecycle management.
  • Incorporate post-launch quality, consumer, financial, manufacturing, and partner performance into continuous process improvement.
  • Lead adoption of D2L standards and influence senior cross-functional stakeholders across the global organization.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Product Development, Business, Operations, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in technology product development, engineering, program/product management, operations, or enterprise process leadership.
  • Strong understanding of integrated hardware/software product development from requirements through development, validation, industrialization, launch, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with custom and platform-based product development models.
  • Experience with stage-gate development, business cases, financial governance, and product economics.
  • Experience working across internal development teams, suppliers, external partners, and contract manufacturers.
  • Proven experience designing, governing, or transforming complex enterprise processes and driving continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior cross-functional leaders and drive change within a global matrixed organization.
  • Consumer electronics, audio technology, connected devices, or similar complex hardware/software product experience strongly preferred.
