The Role

Are you ready to join the team of software engineering experts at Kyndryl? We are seeking a talented Software Engineering Technical Specialist to contribute to our software engineering space and provide critical skills required for the development of cutting-edge products.  
As a Software Engineering Technical Specialist, you will develop solutions in specific domains such as Security, Systems, Databases, Networking Solutions, and more. You will be a leader – contributing knowledge, guidance, technical expertise, and team leadership skills. Your leadership will be demonstrated in your work, to your customers, and within your teams.

You’ll be the go-to person for problem-solving of customers’ business and technical issues. Your aim throughout, is to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and delivery of services through the use of technology and technical methods and methodologies.
Driving the design, development, integration, delivery, and evolution of highly scalable distributed software you will integrate with other layers and offerings. You will provide deeper functionality and solutions to address customer needs. You will work closely with software engineers, architects, product managers, and partner teams to get high-quality products and features through the agile software development lifecycle.
Your continuous grooming of features/user stories to estimate, identify technical risks/dependencies and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders will ensure the features are delivered with the right quality and within timeline. You will maintain and drive the clearing of technical debt, vulnerabilities, and currency of the 3rd party components within the product.
As a Software Engineering Technical Specialist, you will also coach and mentor engineers to design and implement highly available, secure, distributed software in a scalable architecture. Key Responsibilities

• Innovate in “Network as Code” and “Infrastructure as Code” solutions for modern enterprise networks, including traditional campus, cloud, and hybrid networks.

• Improve operations, design, and implementation of modern enterprise networks through code that you create.

• Innovate with AI (including Agentic AI) as part of your solutions, using your programming skills to let AI improve the efficiency of network design, management, and operations.

• Design the overall system flow for custom software solutions, including users, security compliance, system health and availability, and deployment.

• Own and manage the deployment and operation of your solutions

• Implement production-grade monitoring, logging, and alerting to fully operationalize your code.

• Collaborate with the network engineering team on improved functionality and continual product evolution.

• Act as the subject matter expert for this code

• Develop automation to deploy and operate your code

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years experience with any infrastructure-as-code architecture, such as Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.

• 6+ months experience using Agentic AI programming tools (eg, Claude)

• 6+ months experience with AI Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers

• 3+ years with API debugging (eg, Postman)

• Experience in gathering requirements, documenting requirements, and translating to implemented code

• Python (5+ years): Production-quality code, API clients (requests, requests-oauthlib), and database interaction (sqlite3, mysql).

• Linux System Administration (5+ years): Managing services, logging, permissions, and performance troubleshooting.

• 5+ years experience working with Containers on Linux, eg K8s, Docker, etc.

• Familiar with systemd or other daemonization methods on Linux, can create new services and deploy as persistent

• API Integration (4+ years): Deep experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and complex authentication flows.

• Demonstrated ability to debug APIs with tools such as Postman

• Experience in any web frontend development framework, able to develop end-user-facing GUI for these tools, such as Streamlit, Flask, Anvil, or Django

Preferred Skills

• Experience with production network systems (eg, Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, etc)

• Knowledge of more advanced databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).

• Familiarity with infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform).

• Experience with monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).

• Historical understanding and experience with languages such as C, C++ and traditional data structures
